Do we know if Ankalaev turned down UFC 307 title shot?

Mokaev got cut cause he was an entitled douchebag who caused violence outside the cage but none while he was actually supposed to be fighting. UFC obviously tries to cater to the whole Saudi/Abu Dhabi market, your take is just idiotic and wrong, if Ankalaev is getting the shaft it’s because he’s a boring npc not because of his religion or chin strap.
No, my take is factual and objective. I can look at things without letting my biases get in the way. You can't really argue anything legitimately, you have nothing to fall back on beyond using generic words like boring, trying to use another weak arabic location excuse etc. This narrative is dead. Ankalaev got passed on by a #8 ranked dude that lost both Walker and Cutebala.
Mokaev might be a douchebag, but it doesn't stop the fact that he is a 23 year old with an unbeaten record close to a title shot being cut. If he was an american, UFC would probably keep him anyways.

He makes it pretty clear he wasn't offered the title fight and is scheduled to fight Rakic.

That doesn't make it clear at all. If anything, it supports the rumor that he demanded he get his title shot in Abu Dhabi, and turned down the title fight @ UFC 307.

English isn't his first language, so perhaps he just said it awkwardly. But he should have been more clear and said "The UFC refused to offer me a title shot."

How about this?

I already gave you what I’m falling back on, the fact that the UFC would love to have top fighters to fill their Middle East events. Ankalaev just doesn’t make a great case for himself and only has himself to blame. If he finishes Rajiv and puts on a good showing I’m sure he’ll get his shot.

his manager saying something on Twitter is not proof. We need someone from the UFC to confirm this, someone like Hunter Campbell.
UFC representatives who never lie will definitely tell the truth this time.

He wasn't cut. They decided not to resign him. Has nothing to do with his nationality, they just didn't wanna deal with him for several reasons.

I'm curious if Ankalaev was offered the UFC 307 title shot. I have a strong suspicion that he was and turned it down, but I honestly have no clue.

It would be pretty dirty if the UFC scheduled Ankalaev for UFC 308 and then turned around and booked Pereira vs Roundtree right after...

How, why and where did you get this strong suspicion? Based on everything that's out there--media, news, twitter, etc.--and Anka himself wanted the fight and was pushing for it publicly.

The main narrative seems to be that the UFC is protecting Pereira from Anka and does not want that match up at this time

I'm saying if Rakic beats Ank & Pereira beats Rountree then what? Who does Pereira get next? Aspinall for the vacant HW title?
Winner of Ank/Rakic gets next shot if Poatan wins, unless Jon retires right after the Stipe fight, which it's looking like a ~70% chance of happening.

I got a feeling Jon retires with Stipe after their fight. Pereira won't fight winner of Ank/Rakic after Rountree, he'll be fighting Tom for the HW title.

If both Jon and Stipe retire, yes.
If Stipe wins, Jon gets an immediate rematch and Poatan stays at LHW for another fight, or at his pace, 3.
If Jon wins and doesn't retire, has to be Aspie and Bones unifying before Poatan moves up.

We shall see man. I just got a feeling Jon retires. I would love to see Jon vs Tom tho & Jones vs Pereira would be massive.

Oh me too, that's why I got it pegged at a 70% chance he's retiring, especially now that his (roid induced) injuries are adding up. I think next year we'll be seeing Aspinall vs Poatan for the "vacant" title (though we all know Tom is the real champion).

I can't find them now, but I remember seeing a month ago that Ankalaev was specifically demanding his title shot at UFC 308. Low and behold, Ankalaev accepts a non-title fight on that exact card. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Either I'm some genius that predicted this exact scenario before it happened, or what I'm saying is true and where there's smoke there's fire. I'll let you decide. But I truly believe Ankalaev turned down the UFC 307 title shot. He made a vague twitter post but at not point did he say he was not offered the UFC 307 title shot.
