You might be referring to 5% of Sherdog. The vast majority dissed him from the start. They expected him to suck, and a lot hated him for being a domestic abuser.

Is he a world beater? No not yet, maybe never will be.
Does he have the potential to be champ someday? Sure, if he keeps dedicating everything to MMA I don’t see why not, the guy is a specimen and there’s no denying that.

I think all things considered he has exceeded expectations so far and has shown he def has the potential to keep getting better.
I’m not a fan or hater, but I will tune in to see where his road ends up, more talent in MMA is never a bad thing.

He held his own against top 10 guys after 2 years. Islam has been in the UFC for 6 years and hasn't beat a single person in the top 15 and people hype him

in a division thats lacking cardio he arguably has the least and while his striking is suprisingly good his ground game isnt just bad its non existent . I never hyped him up but in a perverted way he is fun to watch an follow . The way he thought he was a total golden ticket and said he wanted to box Tyson Fury was hilarious (laughing at him not with him) especially when he went out and lost . At any rate hes not getting cut any time soon sorry sherdogers .
EDIT: also the way he survived Volcov was impressive cant lie .

If he wants to work out his anger by training MMA, instead of beating up women (again) and paying them off not to go to court (the second time), good. But he can do that in the gym, not with people cheering him on in the UFC.

The reason this dude is a MMA fighter is because he wants his ego fed, not because he is trying to work through his "issues" or "pay rent" (this is someone who got paid an eight figure salary *after* his "cancellation").

You have absolutely zero reason as to why he's making this attempt at MMA.

Less than 3 years in the UFC, and already 7 wins. Very few does that.

He still has potential. He's only been fighting for two years. I think if he can get his diet and cardio in order he could go farther.

Yeah they mock Hardy but act like the HW division isn't shallow as fuck. Look at the last two guys to fight for the belt, a 38 year old vs a 41 obese guy. Hardy absolutely has plenty of time to grab the belt at that age, tho he probably won't. But Hardy is a top 10 HW and will stay there, since the division is so weak. Also only reason why Hardy lost his last fight was because of him gassing out. Obviously Hardy needs to work on his cardio as that is his major weakness.
