The couch story was plausible. Teenage boys are horny freaks who invent all kinds of ways to jerk off. Without fact checking, it is entirely believable that a teenage JD Vance jerked off into a couch. Admitting it in a memoir is kinda weird, but so is JD Vance.

The horse jizz story immediately rings false. No person with a functioning brain believed it even for a second. So instead of being an actual joke, it's just a weird gross fanfiction.

TLDR
