PFL Ditcheva Re-signs with PFL

People act like matching clauses don't exist, or that she can just leave anytime she wants to sign with UFC...that's not how it works. It's possible UFC made her an offer but PFL outbid them, and UFC didn't want to go any higher.

Not sure if she signed for a season or two or just for a couple of fights . She not ufc famous but well known and may just become a what if in ufc history.

CLEARLY didn't want any of that UFC smoke. (Whispers.) Clearly...

Maybe all that talk about her effortlessly sashaying her way to a title will die down now.
Hopefully. Honestly, after failing to finish Inaba on Saturday, combined with the announce, ent, talk of her on social media has already died down, compared to her fights last year
the problem is it's sinking but it's going to be slower than how long her career lasts. and i think it's very possible if she's actually getting paid good money, that they sit her because look what they're doing to Ngannou. how many women can they even find to give her legit fights? people are on to her now, but sooner rather than later they're going to get sick of her fighting soccer moms and the real names are in UFC.
After Liz Carmouche (likely) wins the tournament, there’s her, and that’s it. Meanwhile, that fight won’t happen until sometime next year.

The tournament pay has been reduced to $500k, and she’s not in it
very true, I'd show up and slide in after valentina and manon retire and the division is in disarray.
You make a name by beating names, not avoiding them.

“next few years” is a direct quote

She already has a name and is physically attractive enough to be a huge star. One may argue she's the most popular MMA fighter in the world, man or woman, that is not signed to the UFC.

She's also only 26, opposed to Valentina and Manon who are close to 10 years older, she has time to develop as an athlete and fighter. There will be other names to fight. She's not from the Valentina/grasso/fiorot/Silva/blanchfield/barber crop of contenders. She's the generation after.

Smart move. She's only 26... she'll get that big money from PFL and continue to up her value vs cans, and still be in her prime when this deal is done and she (presumably) makes the move over
I agree...Kayla provided the blueprint.

Make the decent up-front money in PFL while further building up your name, then go to UFC and skip over the bullshit entry-level contract you would have received if you went too early.

stupid career move at this point. You ride that contract till its out and force PFL to get you good fights if they want to keep you. You see what UFC is willing to pay and if in the end PFL is the better deal then you stay but signing now you gave up all your leverage.

I know she's young enough that her 30's can be in UFC but she just signed away the next probably 3 years fighting nobody but whatever.

She'll have to shut up now about getting shit fights cause you signed up for this now. AFter the tournament winner assuming its old Liz thats the last "name" they have. So good luck finding people to care about your fights.

AJ McKee is a prime example as to why that was a dumb move.
AJ needs to step up his game way up before UFC should take him. No more listening to daddy. Right now he thinks going back to old weight class of feather will fix everything for him. LOL

Not every fighter enters on an entry level contract. There are exceptions to that rule

will be interesting to see what she got. Did she get the kind of deal Kayla got where after this there are no matching clauses etc? I doubt PFL goes down that road again after losing Kayla.

I'm guessing since she won tournament and had tlime left and was gonna probably fight for title next anyway which would lock her up longer she just signed away the next years for more money. Sucks cause she's completely wasted over there but in a few years maybe then she'll be willing to completely ride out that contract to escape that shit hole org.

Yes, for sure.

While we don't have all the figures and details, it is telling that Kayla chose to spend more time in PFL, and now so has Ditcheva. Apparently, all things considered, they perceived value in not jumping to the UFC at the earliest opportunity.

Interesting interview, around the 23-minute mark she mentions that PFL staff seemed to be happy that Eblen (her teammate) lost the belt.

Kayla was fighing at 155 for a couple years, and didn't relish the idea of cutting weight, which was also an incentive to stay with PFL. The tournaments were also $1m still

Dakota can spend the next couple of years beating up cans in PFL while getting paid decent money for doing so, and likely looking excellent in the process (assuming the company doesn't fold in the interim). Carmouche is perhaps the only interesting fight. Dakota needs to further develop as an MMA fighter, specifically her grappling proficiency and strategic depth. PFL is a good place to do that. She can be the face of the company, make plenty of money, and get easy fights. A smart, lucrative decision.

That could well be enough. If she then goes to UFC, she would be going in with greater name value and cache, so could likely command a higher fee. Shevchenko will have retired or aged out. The division may be one Dakota could conquer at the age of 28-29. The UFC needs *stars* and *exciting* fighters, particularly for WMMA. She has star quality - the it factor - and is a striking-based competitor.

Dakota is in an excellent position and make the smart decision for now.
