PFL Did Francis N'gannou Hit PFL With the Ole'Scam?

He def fleeced them. Fought once costing them a ton of money which was a money loser for the org and then doesnt even give a shit about PFL Africa, its a title in name only to collect a paycheck.

He got that Chuck/UFC deal when PFL thought they were getting Forrest, who actually showed up for a paycheck and worked.

In truth it never made any sense for PFL to sign him, really didnt. Him and UFC should have worked it out, UFC should have let him try boxing and take a piece of it and Jones fight would have gotten done. We'd have gotten him vs Jones and Tom and UFC would get a piece of Fury and Joshua fights.

Really would have worked for everyone but what happened happened.
I agree with you but think Jon would have ducked Francis just like he ducked Tom.

PFL and Dong Davis have equal responsibility for the situation. They gave Francis this silly contract. It's not entirely his fault that he is boxing and making real money and fame instead of fighting in a minor league MMA promotion for pennies and a handful of viewers.

He should have shown up for PFL Africa though, but he might have a good reason not to. Who knows what has been going on behind the scenes.

Nah I think he would have taken the Francis fight if paid what they offered him to fight Tom. He doesnt want to lose of course but in his mind losing to Francis wouldnt be bad, losing to Tom would be.

No way the UFC would have offered Jones 30 million to fight N'gannou. Maybe 15 million max. Hypothetically speaking, had Francis remained in the UFC (as HW champion) and discovered they were offering Jon 30 million for a super-fight, he would have either demanded a similar salary or more.

Between the two fighters, UFC would be looking at at least 60 million for a single fight. Doesn't seem financially viable when you factor in both Francis' and Jon's tepid PPV buy-rates.

PFL gave tons of millions of dollars to Nganou, Nganou never ever gave back in money, PPV and others.
The indirect consequence was a good advertisement money, but it was not really worth it.

You could recruit 50 elite prospects, with ten times less money, and make them fight each others in a 8 men tournaments.

bro is a scam looked like crap vs gane
gane whooped that ass
every fight he lost theres always excuses

i dont even think he himself believes he can win a boxing fight
in his mind hell lose but take the money

let me remind you that theres lot of better boxers out there who deserves the payday
the man scammed mma and boxing

Isn't that breach of contract ? He gets paid for his role and doesn't even show up personally ? Do they have a bad relationship now. I mean him grabing 10s milions in boxing is logical. But not even promoting PFL especially the whole Africa thing.

He's not fighting for PFL for pennies he got at least $8m plus a slice of the gate and PPV (only sold 10k though) and his opponent got $2m.

So the events are horribly unprofitable and he'd be putting PFL out of business if he keeps fighting and can't draw any viewers.

It all depends how you look at the situation.

From a pure fighting standpoint it is mess at best. But look at it from a marketing standpoint Francis has giving the PFL more world wide advertising at a way cheaper rate than any global marketing campaign would cost. You could argue Francis has helped PFL get the Saudi deal worth much more than Francis contract cost. They got a ton of run initially with the signing. Helped to get PFL Africa going. But the dude should've shown up and it seems from all accounts Francis just ghosted them pretty much. Which speaks to his character. He talks about respect and all this and he basically said FU to the PFL on these African events for what ever reasons he may have. My guess, it is a simple as he felt he had better things to do.

But overall, it just seems like PFL brass doesn't know how to get people to care about the product regardless of talent or how to manage talent(on many levels) they acquired over the years. So all of it doesn't really matter that much. They get Bellator and had a real chance at doing something great and the reality is they didn't know WTF to do with the influx of talent they got. Like so many of these second tier orgs there seems to be little direction into the future of anything. Their idea of future planning is a tournament. That should be more of a cherry on top and not the easy way out of planning. Look at PFL outside the tournaments, no one has any idea of what is going on. Hell, fighters don't know what is going on. If fans or the fighters can't follow your logic, then good luck getting us to even tune in or care about you. The goal of building these subsidiary orgs around the world and flowing the top talent into the PFL big stage just doesn't seem to be working much. I think fans just don't care about that vision. Fans want good entertaining fights and part of that is knowing who is fighting. They don't care how we got there but if you can't deliver more times than not when we turn on TV to watch, you lose us quickly.

PFL has reached a point that it probably needs to be blown up from the inside out. They need all new brass, new name, and most importantly a new vision.

Donn Davis business thinking is grow grow grow expand expand expand. Keep growing show investors. Lost a lot but he says he still on track still expanding. Either they will find a source of income or implode all a gamble to him.

Francis was a gamble too which payed off but not giving anymore clot so we wait and watch and see what will take PFL out... or if Donn can calm the fck down and build what they have now.

PFL are almost certainly financially better off without Francis competing. Costs huge sums and doesn’t attract the required revenue. There may be a case for cutting him, if the contract allows that.

Overpaying in MMA can be lethal. One FC allegedly paid Demetrious $1.5 million per fight or $10 million over the contract. Johnson repels viewers, that was well established between 2012 and 2018. Not a smart decision given the finances of the promotion. Recall Matt Hume is an executive there…

Coker overpaid for the likes of Mousasi and Rory who could not draw flies. Bellator found itself dealing with some burdensome contracts.
