Didn't Jones always intend to retire after Stipe?

consider jones retired.

he is trolling aspinal. he is trying to michael chandler him into wasting two years of his career. jones will sign for a fight that is six months away. back out due to injury. aspinal probalby takes a vacated hw title fight. then jones trolls him for another year before pulling out.

sadly the ducking i think has ruined jones legacy. i don't consider him all time #1 anymore. he is behind gsp, anderson for sure. I would argue behind mighty mouse too at this point.
How does this take away from anything he'd already achieved? You might not like it but his legacy is already set, this was just adding some icing. None of those names mentioned are two division champs who only lost due to a rule that has now been changed.

And Pereira, who beat Jiri Prochazka twice, who beat Adesanya while cutting a lot of weight, and who while sick and with a broken wrist, gave Ankalaev the toughest fight Ankalaev had!!! Wow that's cherry picking yeah!!
It is cherry picking. If he can take down Gane and choke him easily, what on earth does he have to fear from Pereira?

meanwhile Tom gets years chopped off of his prime.
We deal with so much bullshit as MMA fans stuck with the UFC but this is the biggest turn off I've ever experienced. I would wash my hands from the company if I wasn't a hopelessly addicted scmuck. Nothing has ever sat worse with me as a sports fan. Literally disgusting.

His legacy as the biggest fraud, PED abuser and duck in UFC history has indeed long been set.

everybody already knows it except for nuthuggers such as yourself

I distinctly remember him at least implying that. Then Jones got injured and they booked Aspinall/Pavlovich for the IC, which Aspinall won. And then you had a ton of speculation about the UFC booking a fight between Jones and Aspinall to make him undisputed HW champ. But I'm straining to think of even one time where Jones even expressed an interest in this fight. I think his plan was always to beat Stipe and retire.
Then fucking retire and stop stinking out the joint

The sport is bigger than you

Well he said immediately after beating Stipe he's decided not to retire. Got some "negotiating" to do.

I personally always believed Stipe was his last fight unless he could get Pereira.

With Pereira out of the picture, I'm convinced its over. November at MSG is the last chance. If they don't get it done by then, Aspinall will defend the undisputed HW title against Gane.

I remember when people said Jon was too scared to fight at HW. Jon gonna Jon and we should all just enjoy the fights that are actually happening and spend less time obsessing over what he's doing. I honestly believe Dana wants this. He wants us all talking about what Jones is going to do and less about the nonsense happening with active fighters.

+1

Poatan was the money fight for Jones and would have been huge if true. Casuals don't even know who Aspinall is. Unlikely but still hoping we get to see it and agree if it doesn't happen by MSG, Aspinall and the promotion will have moved on.

Then he should retire instead of trying to be the longest-reigning champ in both divisions.

I'm honestly wondering at this point, what's to gain for all this talk of the matchup? UFC isnt making money off of it and its holding up a division.

I always was against jones going to HW, but I'd gladly enjoy being proven wrong. However, the asshole has to clock into work and stop calling out sick.

Is he waiting out a contract?

He's been very Jon Jones [full of shit]. He signed an 8 fight contract before Gane. Then before fighting Stipe, he has said it would "more than likely" be his retirement fight. He has said it will be his last fight. He said "if he fights again" it will be Pereira. Some of these, he'd say even in the same interview. So who fucking knows.

Assuming they still think the fight is even possible, the UFC is generating incrementally more hits and buzz by teasing Jones fighting again than promoting no name #1 vs. no name #2 for the HW strap.

And Jones is certainly getting more followers, hits and sponsorships by keeping his name out there. McG showed how that works. For all we know, his russian reality show contract requires him to be the "reigning UFC HW champ" when the show airs, rather than the "retired" or "recently KTFOed" UFC champ.

The last indication we had was after the Stipe fight. In the post fight interview he said...

"I have decided that maybe I won't retire, and I have some conversations to have with Dana and Hunter, and we have some negotiating to do, and if everything goes right, maybe we'll give you guys what you want to see"

Jones’ legacy is trash anyways.
