I hope more people would actually watch the fight before commenting so we don’t have to put up with posts like the one below. Regardless of what you think happened, posting a pic from after the fight to prove a point about what happened in the fight is beyond retarded.

Agreed. The ref made the right call. It's weird that some don't understand that even if it's just borderline, a gray area so to speak, that's enough in and of itself to warrant ruling it low. If the ref is even remotely uncertain that is usually going to be the case. How anyone can sit here and pretend that it was clearly legal is disingenuous. Especially after the ref didn't specify that punches on the beltline were permitted.

Well there it is for all the people exaggerating how high Usyk's trunks were. When he takes the punch he is a little bent forward, which slightly raised the trunks and lowered his elbows relative to his navel.

Stop using his elbows as a reference point you dingbats. The top of the beltline might have have been an inch above the navel and half a foot above where the punch landed. Do the math.

I'm not a boxing connoisseur, but, from what I understand, a low blow is below the navel.
It doesn't matter if it its testicles or not.. it if it below the navel, it is a low blow.

Now, I am trying to see how Usyk keeps hits pants highter than most fighters. I don't see it.

It honestly looked borderline to me, but there other puches thrown that were clearly low. I don't necessarily think Dubios was intentionally throwing low, but he was definitely throwing a few mean ones.

As far as the Dubios should have gotten the ko narrative, I don't see it. The shot looked like it was probably partially landing on the cup, and other low blows had landed. The ref was within his rights to make the call that he did, and Uysk was entitled to take the time granted to him.

If it had been ruled a legitimate knockdown, I think that Uysk would have gritted his teeth, beaten the count, and used his boxing skills to create the space he needed to recover. The UK boxing media sphere is deluding themselves in thinking that Dubious was robbed here.

technically it's below the belt line, but there's no way he got hit in the nuts unless he's tying his nuts up to the waistband of his trunks. i don't know how this isn't more of a problem in boxing because nearly EVERY boxer has extremely high trunks just so they can game the "belt line rule". Usyk was down for 4 minutes by a punch to his LOWER ABDOMEN. that's the reality of it. whether you want to say it's illegal or not, the fact is he did not get hit in his genitals. to be down for 4 minutes means he was legitimately hurt by the body shot.

Yeah it's a very dodgy rule. In MMA or kickboxing, a strike there never gets counted as low.
By the rules, the shot looks illegal though.

That's the thing. The ref didn't indicate that shots on the beltline were permitted. In other words, all of the fake outrage controversial reactions are unwarranted and off-base.
