That's plain ridiculous. I get that you're upset that he broke Kovalev, but that was 6 years ago. It's time to let go.
I am not a Kovalev fan. He had a fan friendly style but was too much of a classic russianstyle asshole to be a fan of. And yeah Ward broke the nuts of quite some fighters.

I used to be, obviously, and I can tell you that Ward ruined him. Took his punch resistance and confidence along with it. Kovalev went from being the Krusher to almost a kitten content to play pattycake for points. Eleider Alvarez probably took what was left of his durability but Ward was the one that initially cracked his chin. He never looked the same after. The version that Canelo knocked out was his ghost.

smart matchmaking from team canelo .. but ryder followed by a 154er is dog shit

The question is...

Would Usyk have gotten up if the referee didn't immediately call a foul and tell him to take his time?

If he would've/could've, the foul/fake foul is irrelevant.

We'll never know.

But it puts a big question mark on Usyk.

So just listened to Teddy on YT interesting to get an expert analysis. In his always entertaining but ponderous style he said it was low although does criticise the ref handling of the fight and not indicating belt line at beginning as many have said here. I always said don't think Usyk is a cheat and believe he himself thought/felt it was low. Other factors like the ref have helped create a grey area and controversy so can get why DDD is annoyed. I also agree with Teddy that very likely Usyk would have got up and have enough nous to last rest of the round.
Vote changed to YES.

eh,this guy acts like its just twitter and sherdog people who think it wasn't low. There's a vid with a HOF referee explaining why it was legal too. Tons of pros weighed in to say they also thought it was a clean shot.

No he doesn't. They bring up Josh Taylor and Amir Khan saying it was a low blow, and he says he wants to have a sit down conversation with them to figure out why they think that.

I stopped watching after about a minute, to be honest.
Everyone has explained why they think so. The trunks were a tad high, the punch was on the belt line. I posted a timestamped vid a few posts back where it looks pretty clearly to be clean.

I guess it was the other thread, here it is again.

Cool time stamp of the last angle with the most obscured view. Still low.
BS, thats as clear a shot of the punch as there is and you can CLEARLY see its right on the beltline of the trunks.

How is this not a clearer angle.

It was clean as a whistle. These guys saying low blow have varying ideas of the belt line/low, and openly admit the ref failed to indicate the legal area while simultaneously pointing out how much higher Dubois trunks were. What better time to clarify the legal punching area when neither guys beltline was unobscured and trunks at drastically different heights on two men of different size. Ref was kinda incompetent on the night. It’s not that Usyk wasn’t the better boxer, it’s that he was possibly upset that night with a different ref

and again what about Usyks inability to get up or hide his discomfort makes everyone so sure he was beating a count or surviving the round? Dubois imo has a solid reason to gripe but I’m glad the ref saved Usyk and gave him a bonus life to keep the big fights alive.

its kind of fitting, given all of the favorable referee decisions that were made in order to help get Dubois the shot he didnt really deserve. now he's a victim of a referee decision he doesnt agree with. sucks when the bad shoe is on your foot, doesnt it? i think Usyk stayed down cause the ref ruled it low and he knew he had time to burn, but meh. i dont think there should be a rematch either cause Dubois had nothing for Usyk for all of the rest of the rounds.
hopefully we can get Usyk/Fury next, but in all likelihood its probably gonna be Usyk/Hrgovic unless they pay him out the ass to step aside.
