Crime Desperate Newsom to intervene in Oakland to reduce crime

When is the last time you've been to HB? It's been upgraded huge with Pacific City, huge resorts like the Hyatt Regency, and 5th Street has been completely upgrade to high end dining and shopping as well. I was at the Brewery on the fully upgraded Main Street last night and the town was hopping and a ton of fun. The Poke Nachos are amazing.
2021. Been to Pacific City a bunch, noticed that the nicer crowd went there and Main Street would get a less desirable crowd. Went to High School at Marina and lived on 7th St half a block from the beach and 2 blocks from Main St around 2011-2012. Don't remember Main Street being really bad at all then but I used to avoid it from around 2013/14 to when I left SoCal, my friend group started calling it Riverside Beach from all the non-locals taking it over. I wouldn't avoid it if people invited me but it's not a place I'd seek out to go to.

Another California (wealthiest economy in US) sucks thread.

Must be absolute shit living between one of them welfare states between California and NY for it to always be on you bamma's radar.

Another failed Soros DA… how many is that now?

They've actually been very effective... toward their goals... which is the spread of chaos.

Don't have to change laws when you own whom chooses which laws to enforce, or whom to enforce the laws against and whom are exempt.

California doesn’t suck. Just a few select areas of it does run by idiots

How many people and businesses have fled the state?

Who said to ignore it? Have I ever said that?

Democrats point out the reduction of violent crime as a response to Republicans hyperbole about how bad "blue" cities are (most cities are blue). Each side needs to say why the other side is bad, that's the game, and that's why everything takes so much time to fix.

Slightly on topic... Have you ever felt unsafe in Quebec? Even as a much younger man?
A handful of times. My worst experience was having 2 guns pointed at my face by 2 nervous, dumb cops. We were rehearsing a scene for a short film and they thought we were rehearsing for a crime because we had a fake revolver.

I see Montréal as being generally safe. What about you?

Metro security guards treated me like shit because I looked like a lumberjack. I didn't care, but it scared my GF. She was afraid one would find an excuse to jump me. I never gave them the satisfaction.

Who said he's a great leader?

He has some support from liberals and might be a strong candidate for president eventually, but progressives are his fiercest critics.

He has made many promises to satisfy progressives but all the work he's done to honor those promises has been purely performative. This is incredibly typical of the Democrats who aren't nearly as radical as Republicans are required to pretend in order to gin up votes.

His stern warning to Walgreens regarding abortion medication also felt performative but if it was sincere then it was fascist or authoritarian.

His hypocrisy about gatherings during the pandemic was a catastrophic failure of leadership at a time when the stakes were incredibly high. John Smith down the block ignoring the mandates is a minor issue, the governor of a state doing so is unforgiveable.

Would he have support if he runs? Of course he will, every time a Republican wins the White House it drags the country back twenty years (in Trump's case it was fifty), but he's almost as uninspiring a candidate as Biden, who progressives loathe.

As long as it's a Democrat I'd take Bill the Cat over Newsom.

I hate newsome with a passion. I think his cutting ties with Walgreens is petty, but not nearly as petty as the attorney generals that threatened to prosecute these pharmacies if they dispensed abortion drugs under the fucking comstock act from the 1800s that also goes after porn and sex toys. I would love to see them try to prosecute under that act. It would be a total fucking joke trial

No one is surprised by this news. Oakland is a shitshow and cess pool. Another progressive da only concerned with the number of minorities in lock up and not concerned with what crimes they committed to get there or what their criminal histories look like.

Lololol

Because California is where these radical policies get exposed

And yet, the politicians refuse to change course

Newsom is only acting now because he’s eyeing the national stage

While Californians will vote for a garden slug as long as there’s a D behind their name, that shit won’t fly nationally

Denial isn’t just a river a in Mexico…

lol

Come on, you didn't adress any of my comments. Have you pulled up Zillow and taken a look at what 900K gets you in Oakland? Why do you think housing prices are so high there? Because it's actually a great city.

There are plenty of beautiful and fantastic areas of Oakland. Plus it has a was better food scene than anywhere in Texas. Plus it has better high end cuisine than the entire state of Texas.

Why all the hateraid on Cali? It has the best education system in the world and one of the best economies on the planet too.

Montreal is incredibly safe.

I did once take a wrong turn during the Oka crisis and ended up at a blockade with rifles aimed at me. That was uncomfortable.

Answer is- What state has the most wealth, largest economy and biggest population.

there's got to be a rough patch somewhere that's causing all the f upped numbers, kind of like st louis. Oakland does seem to have a lot of high end homes.

other places not so much, dont know this area

Those art the bad neighborhoods in that vid, mostly industrial and some homeless near the freeway/Bart tracks.

Most of Oakland is really nice and very expensive and it has some of the best weather in the country.
