Deadlifts and milkshakes

There was this kid at my gym who said his bodyfat was 0% in his arms.

Janis met a guy recently at the gym who told her he was at "5% bodyfat." He was, I don't know, maybe 18%? The whole exchange was comical.

It was so awesome. Everything he said was wrong. Example, regarding Kyle's squat style: "oh, yeah, leaning forward like that on the squat like he does will really hit the quads well." Dude, no, Kyle is not a quad squatter (at the moment...soon? Soooon...). He was also a certified personal trainer. Man, why am I even studying to get a certification. The whole thing is such a wash.

My understanding is that, generally, callipers are most useful for measuring trends. As in, you can't expect to accurately measure the percent body fat (And even if someone was skilled enough with the callipers, how would you know he was?), but as long as the person using them is consistent, you can measure fat gain or loss.

I'm not going to lie, I have a lot of misconceptions about body fat, lean body mass, etc. But I keep my ignorance on the subject to myself for the most part haha

This is exactly my plan. I have no BW goals so I don't ever track progress on the scale. Aside from taking regular photographs, this is my only way of knowing if my body fat is changing.

Walk to the gym 1 mile

Squat
bar x 5
65 x 5
85 x 5
105 x 3
115 x 3
135 x 5
135 x 5
135 x 5
135 x 5
135 x 5

Notes: Pretty sure this is a beltless PR. It was hard as hell today. Energy was extremely low. Having trouble breathing again and feeling light headed. I *might* make an appt to see the doctor this week. Joints are achy, I'm feeling extremely tired, not getting great sleep, and getting stomachaches every night.

Dude, get thyself to a doc for some bloodwork! I'm sure nothing will turn up, but you never know--I think it's quite worth it at this point.

This is how I use mine--to measure differences over time. And whether I'm "doing it" perfectly or imperfectly, I just try to make sure to take the measurement the same way every time.

Otherwise, they're useless for me, since with the standard deviation, it does me no good to discover that my body-fat is somewhere between 3% and 11%.

I'm having a mini heart attack even thinking of that possibility lol I'm *pretty* sure I'm not pregnant. I think it's just stress. Yeah, that's it...

Someone said the P word. That's an evil, awful, disgusting word.

Haha, I wouldn't go that far. I can't wait to have a kid and will probably be the P word within a year but I'm getting married in September and I really don't want to look like this:

Notes: A lady at the gym (wife of the owner) used me a test dummy for one of her stretching techniques and put me on one of those torture pilates devices. It was painful as hell and she told me that I am extremely tight and inflexible (which I already knew) but she gave me some great exercises to work on. I'll write more details when I get the chance, I'm getting ready to go to sleep now.
