Deadlifts and milkshakes

When the garage is hot as balls, like today, it totally effects my energy levels and strength as well, I become a weak, floppy woman! Good work in here though!

ugh, its terrible! Thanks though :)

Have you tried having a sports drink mix when it's really hot? It helps me keep my energy up.

This is kind of dorky, but I've been wearing a lot of shirts that are cut off/have the sleeves cut out and low like the ones bros wear because the roominess allows for a lot of air flow-through to my upper body during lifting without exposing how much my physique echoes that of post-meal hippopotamus. It really has made a difference as opposed to having a shirt clinging to me as I work as badly as some of my closer-fitting tanks. Again, it's dorky, but I think it truly helps keep me cooler. Something to think about?

I haven't yet, but I'll give it a shot next time.

Yeah, I do wear loose clothing most of the time. Sometimes I'm training alone and I just rock out with just a sports bra and spandex shorts. This is ideal but I'm too embarrassed to do that when there's a lot of people in the gym.

I lifted a barbell in a t shirt once, and it was awful. Vest or shirtless. How else you gonna check your striations in the mirror?

Squatting shirtless? I think I'll pass haha I do have back callouses from squatting in tank tops though. Pretty bad ass IMO.

Notes: Feeling very lean lately. I've been losing some weight. Energy is pretty low most of the day.

I've started supplementing magnesium at night. It seems to help with my anxiety and helps me sleep. The downfall is that sometimes it makes me groggy throughout the day. I'm hoping eventually the side effect will subside, otherwise I might have to stop taking it.

feeling lean n mean :D

drink coffee for teh grogginess

I don't drink caffeine anymore. It definitely heightens my anxiety. It would be counterproductive to drink an anxiety-inducing drink to overcome the grogginess of my anti-anxiety vitamin haha

It's a shame that I can't drink coffee though. When I have used coffee PWO, it has made a tremendous difference on my performance.

Notes: That squat set was definitely one of the hardest sets of my life. When I racked the weight, I had to hold onto the bar so that I wouldn't fall down. Steve said my lips were purple when I turned around. I definitely feel like my breathing is my limitation and not the strength. I'm happy with this rep PR considering I have barely been squatting.

Video is uploading now. Get ready for some laughs as I make the weirdest sounds ever.

Here is the footage of my squat PR today. I am SO tired. Going to have a pizza cheat meal. And maybe some reese's mcflurry.

Reese's McFlurry? WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED.

Solid squats. When you fire your hips forward a little before the sit back at the top of every rep, is that a conscious cue or just a byproduct of your breathing?

I had to check that Reese's Mcflurry actually does exist and I didn't just make it up. But yes it is a real thing! Get on it!

I honestly don't remember why I started doing that hip forwards but its a recent change to my form. I noticed that I was really exaggerating it on this day.

A few months ago, I noticed I was doing it slightly like in the following video:

In my head, I'm thinking "break at the hips" because I used to have a problem where I would just start bending at my knees and I was folding over a lot in the hole. It's interesting to see how my squat is evolving as I get stronger. I don't ever think of purposely changing it, it just happens.

Hey, yes, that has been a problem for me. I don't do anything to fix it. I tried to switch my hands on mixed grip and I really didn't like how it felt and gave up. I've done some unilateral pulling and stuff like that, but nothing serious. It really doesn't seem to affect my strength or how I move. It just looks funny lol
Oh, ok. I tried reversing my mixed grip too but it just felt really akward and weird. I haven't noticed any effects of imbalance on my strength besides my "smaller" arm seems have more endurance in it than my "bigger" arm. Meaning if I end up doing a forced rep my smaller arm can push longer than my right lol.

Tire flippin'

Notes: I got bored after training waiting for Steve to be done with his shift so I decided to try and flip some tires. It felt really heavy off the floor at first and I was mentally quitting before I had a chance to feel the weight. Then Steve pretended like he was helping me and I got it on my own. Then got a few more singles. This is why I love strength training. Always breaking those mental barriers.

Yeah I hear ya. I'm the same way. I don't notice anything too serious so I don't do anything about it. Some have suggested that I use hook grip but I'm too much of a wimp.

Walked home (about a mile)

Notes: The gym was hot as balls again. Didn't go for my AMRAP set like I normally do because I felt like I would pass out (didn't have a spot today). I've been getting really light headed from high volume squatting and didn't really feel like making a fool out of myself.
