Notes: I was aiming for doubles with 70 on the push press. On my first set, the first two went flying up so I just tried to 5 x 5.

Deadlifts felt good, I'm almost back to where I was before I got injured.

Boxing
Jump rope - 2 rounds

Practiced jabs and hooks
Footwork drills - "marshalling" (For Snitzie) side to side for 5 min.

I really feel more comfortable in boxing class than I do in BJJ. It's coming more naturally to me.

Mitt work with partner - another girl came to the class!
End of class - intervals of push ups/crunches

At the end of the class we had to line up against the wall, put our hands over our head and get hit in the stomach. When he got to me I said, "You can hit me." He said, "OKAY!" and whailed on my organs the same way he did on the guys. I always said I didn't want people to treat me different because I was a girl, and I got what I wanted! He did three rounds of this...I think I am internally bleeding.

BJJ (no-gi)
Drilled escapes from mount

Positional training - rolling starting from being mounted, i stayed in for two rounds
Getting better at these sweeps I've been learning!

Rolling - partnered up with a new girl. Since I started training at this school, there's been an INFLUX of ladies. I'm really happy that women are becoming more interested. I arm dragged her, took her back and got the RNC, then taught her what to do if someone is on your back.

It was an okay class, didn't really get to challenge myself too much. I needed a light class anyway.

BJJ (Gi!)

First gi class. The first 5 minutes of class were everyone making fun of my pink gi

Warmed up with sprawls and upa escapes, takedowns

Drilled S mount, and armbar from S mount.
I always attempted this armbar from mount and never get it, but todays session helped me keep it tighter and how to apply the right pressure.

Rolling

Round 1 - Got my guard passed a bunch, submitted a lot with a kimura behind my back?, I DID get a triangle towards the end of the match.

Round 2 - He was a purple belt and wanted to let me get stuff but he was too submissive and it was hard to try anything when he wasn't moving. I like to counteract peoples moves to get my submissions so him acting that way actually made it harder to learn stuff.

Notes: Gi class is very different and at times more difficult but I also could use it to my advantage. Takedowns were harder because once someone had my gi, I pretty much knew I was going down because I didn't know what to do from there.

My instructor is getting his black belt this weekend, I'm really happy for him and ecstatic that I get to train under him.

Yoga - 1 hour
Still have a lot of hip tension of course. Knee has also been bothering me just a little bad. It's not painful, just feel a warm sensation after exercise and stifffness throughout the day.

BJJ (no-gi)
Drilled:

1) Escapes from the back
2) Flattening someone out when you're on their back
3) POSITION BEFORE SUBMISSION
4) Rear naked choke

Positional training
Still keeping a tight game when on people's back, and vice versa, pretty good when someone is on my back at not getting choked, keeping my chin down and fighting their hands.

Rolling
SIX girls at the club today. Pretty tired so I tried to just work my positions and not go crazy. Got submitted pretty fast by Tiger Schulman chick. She had me in a kimura and beasted it behind my back. My arms were trapped so I had to shout tap a few times and she wasn't letting go for a few seconds. A little worried my shoulders going to hurt for a few days. I told my instructor to tell her to chill out or roll with the guys if she wants to challenge herself.

The rest of the girls are looking really good and trying really hard. We actually have a "girls mat" now!

BJJ (no-gi)
Still on positional training. Keylocks and armbars from side control.
Mount->Side->North South

Rolled light because my knee is achey still. My hip is beyond achey, it feels pretty jacked up. Getting frustrated!!!!! It seems everytime I start to make progress in something, I get hurt. Might have to decrease my days of traning now.:icon_sad:

Bench
Bar x 10
65 x 5
75 x 5
80 x 5
85 x 3
95 x 1
95 x 1
100 x 0
100 x 0

Bleh. Wanted to hit 105 for a PR today, just not mentally there yet I guess. Couldn't even match my PR. bleh blehhh blahhghgh

BJJ (no-gi)

Sweep from guard
Guillotine from guard
Kimura from guard

Positional drills

Light rolling - my left leg HURTS. Hip/knee/ankle - definitely got some nerve pinchage going on.

PVC rolling when I got home on my dysfunctional hip, felt a lot of shooting pain down my leg and some weird twitching. I've been to the doctor a few times got an MRI, they don't seem to see anything wrong. Not sure if I should contine with the PVC rolling, it's pretty painful and I can't do it long enough to actually relax the muscles.

BJJ GI

Diaphragm, chest, head pressure. I'm really glad a class was dedicated to this because it is something I don't usually think of, and I noticed a difference in my rolling today.

3 rounds of rolling with Briana

My JJ felt slick today and like something was FINALLY "clicking." I was actively trying to escape, going for takedowns and submissions and being more technical rather than sloppy. The beauty of the gi I guess.

I also learned some mistakes to not make with the gi. Don't try and choke someone while you're in their guard or they will sweep you (and just flat out don't work on someone who knows what they're doing)

It's interesting reading about your BJJ training. I'm considering taking it up in the new year so it's good to read a relative beginner's viewpoint. Sounds like you're making some good progress, do you think you might do tournaments in the future?

Yeah, do it! But as you can see, it might interfere with your lifting haha

There's a local tournament in my area Oct. 30th that I might sign up for, probably won't be too many competitors for me though because of my weight class and girllie status.

Bench

BJJ No-gi

Kimura sweep, kimura, guillotine - all from guard

Escape from the guillotine

Rolled with some beginners. Tired today, knee hurts.

Just had 4 wisdom teeth removed. I've been getting sick from the ansthesia and I'm ridiculously tired from pain killers. Won't be training for a week or so and Oct. comp is off now :icon_neut

Its been 5 days since I had my surgery and I decided it was okay for me to go to BJJ. I didn't plan on rolling and was just going to go to learn the technique and drill. I got there and it was a special class devoted to judo throws! I figured it was a bad day to start judo so I watched. Cool class, too complicated to learn from watching I think.

My instructor is thinking of hiring the Judo black belt and adding some classes into the schedule, I'd definitely be interested.

There's stitches in my lower jaw and I technically shouldn't exert myself until they have dissolved. I'm feeling a lot of pain this evening but trying to avoid the painkillers. I feel weak and tired from them and just want to get back to training!

How is eating? :)

Horrible! I actually couldn't eat anything the first few days besides Wendy's frosties. Despite my efforts to eat high calorie foods, I lost 5 lbs.

...and quit smilin' at my misfortune!

Hey there! I've been lurking your log for a few weeks and just started one of my own. I'm also a smaller female and just started bjj sooo yea, just wanted to let you know I like reading your log!

Sucks about your wisdom teeth, I had 3 out last March (the day after St. Patrick's Day, what a stupid day to pick!). I can't imagine getting cross-faced, triangled etc. the first week after surgery. Get well soon.

Damn I have a whole book full of coupons for free jr. frosties, wasted! I don't even like 'em.

Heal up soon fool.

lol thanks!

That's awesome! I'll be sure to check it out. Good luck with your training.

3 is such an odd number to get removed! But thanks, hopefully I'll be getting triangled within a few days :D

Any other female losing 5 lbs would have been ecstatic, what's wrong with you??!

Apparently I only had 3 wisdom teeth to begin with. I'm sure the dental surgeon was disappointed since it meant 1 less tooth to remove and thus 1 less to charge me for.

There are very few things that I do that correlate with what other women do! I want to get stronger and laying around losing weight is not helping me do that.

Haha...yeah I hear ya. I am very skeptical of doctors, especially dentists.

BJJ (no-gi)

Did the warm ups. Ran a bit, felt really tired and weak. We drilled armbars today and learned an "armbar from guard pendelum sweep" not sure the exact name. I watched an escape from triangle, but didn't want the pressure on my face so I didn't try it.

Did some VERY VERY VERY light flowy rolling with Goon. Can't wait to get back for real.

BJJ no-gi

Large class so we just drilled the triangle and learned a new escape that seemed more efficient then the others. First we drilled pulling the arm out, punching an arm through and the escape was trapping your opponents knee with your arm walking around and sliding your knee over their stomach to break their legs and ending up in "donkey mount" or whatever.

First day back training for real and I felt kind of lost, tired, non-enthusiastic. Rolled with two different girls and got triangled a lot but I also got to work the new sweep I learned.

I REALLY need to work on my submission defense. I think that is my biggest problem, once I get into a submission even if its from a beginner, I freeze and just have to tap.

Wisdom holes are fine, yay. Squats soon?

**Forgot to mention** Been doing some grip work with the CoC grippers.
Got 3 singles on the trainer each hand, grip PR
