No problemo. I messed around with the rubber guard for a while when I first started grappling. I think the basics of it are useful, but some of the moves are just too complicated and take too much effort to set up. I still use it all the time to set up the omoplata, but that's about it. I feel like it would be more useful to just drill basic guard attacks or regular high guard, but that's just my opinion.
Agree 100%. I trained RB for a good 6 months. What I took from it was an omaplata and how to work my high guard more effectively. It is so easily squashed it just isnt to useful to anyone who doesnt want to commit 100% to the system. If I get broken down and start getting the RG thrown on me, I just squat out of it or squash my opponent and work to pass over his leg thats on my ribs. I have never been submitted by way of rubber guard and I have rolled with guys who were crazy about it.
Good training WC, you looked strong today.
