Deadlifts and milkshakes

So here's the deal: the training logs are for discussion of a user's training. Not for personal attacks, sarcastic stupidity, unwanted harassment or carrying on with some beef you have with a particular user. Continued posting in such a manner in somebody log will constitute a ban. Odds are VERY good you know whether or not somebody would appreciate you contributions to their log, respect the sanctity of this sub forum and there will be no problems. Continue to harass ANY member in their log and you will be dealt with swiftly.

Thank you Urban, because I feel like I've been harassed.

Also for the sake of me not getting teh ban, could you define Sarcastic Stupidity?

Did I specifically mention you? jeez you're terribly paranoid.

Threesome got out of control. Have you not been paying attention?

I'm so glad you and OJ are posting in my log again. You're both such cool people! How much can you curl?

Let me guess...Chuck ignored you and went straight for your boyfriend's dick?

Where's that other log "something something battle of the broads working out something something"????

First of all, lol at OJ finally getting banned.

Second of all, don't everyone bust a nut. I'm not going anywhere. Just took a break while I was in Yellowstone. I'm back in New York now, BJJ starts on Wednesday and I'll be back to lifting in no time.

Time off is sometimes what you need to get your mind right. Good luck.

Looking forward to the updates.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm back in the saddle!

BJJ started today. The extensive report can be found in Goon's log. Basically, it's a college team and we lucked out by getting most of the returners back so we won't have to focus too much on the beginning techniques. We are training for a NAGA competition in November and we will dominate!

Turns out, all the bad eating/drinking habits and lack of lifting wasn't a good idea. I felt sluggish, weak and extremely tired rolling today which I expected to some degree since it's been four months since I've trained.

Rolled with a girl who came once or twice last semester and who was pretty incompetent at the time, but amazed me with her new skills today. I swept her a few times and kept control most of the fight but she still tapped me with a triangle choke and some other bizarre choke I had never seen before.

QUESTION for the BJJ guys...my training partner must have spent the entire summer practicing the rubber guard which I have very little experience with. I ended up getting absolutely exhausted trying to constantly break out of it. What are some good defenses (other than posturing up and not getting caught in it in the first place)?

Make sure not to give up any over hooks and try to stuff the leg that he doesn't have resting on your shoulders. There is a shoulder lock off of the leg stuff to watch out for, but the guy has to have good timing to pull it off. I found this vid of josh barnett explaining some counters, but my internet it too slow to load it right now... but that dude probably knows his stuff.

If it makes you feel any better, my brother never trained with anyone who knew the rubber guard despite being a blue belt. He was blowing through a tournament up until the semi-finals, and this one team was big on the rubber guard. It was 3 people from that team and him. He got subbed in the next two matches to get 4th because he had no idea how to counter the rubber guard.

Anyhow, afterwards he rolled with them and they showed him some things that he caught onto pretty quickly. The guys were really cool and said they surprise a lot of people at comps because their opponents panic with the rubber guard. They were saying a lot of the basic counters are easy.

Anyhow, I don't have any real advice, but I just wanted to share the coolstorybro.

lol...sooo you're saying I should learn the rubber guard if I'm going to compete? Either way, it was a cool story...bro.

No problemo. I messed around with the rubber guard for a while when I first started grappling. I think the basics of it are useful, but some of the moves are just too complicated and take too much effort to set up. I still use it all the time to set up the omoplata, but that's about it. I feel like it would be more useful to just drill basic guard attacks or regular high guard, but that's just my opinion.

I think I would have to agree. I'm going to still learn it just because it looks cool and will make my hips more flexible in the process.
