Media Dana: Wonderboy turned down Garry fight

Is he lying?

Yeah, it seems fishy. Wonderboy even mentioned Ian Garry in his most recent interview with Ariel as a name he'd be open to fighting. I'm thinking he might be on Dana's bad side after refusing to fight an overweight Michel Pereira and then publicizing that he wasn't paid. So now he's getting the "this guy doesn't wanna fight" treatment.

Dana is basically a professional liar, its what he does as part of his job.

Its possible Wonderboy was offered to fill in as replacement (offered prior to Magny) and turned it down, because he didn't want to have two weight cuts just two weeks apart, which is completely smart and reasonable.

The standing rule in the UFC is "kiss the ring or else" and despite being a consummate professional and years-long company man, we are now in the era of Wonderboy being openly lied about and trashed in the media.

The fact that the UFC - as promoter of these fighters - can bad mouth their own contracted talent, is completely absurd. These guys have no advocacy and really do need a fighters association.

Both of those situations:

turn down-
  1. reject something offered or proposed.
Except he wasn’t offered it in either of those scenarios.

Also, they’re the same scenario. Just figured I’d clarify it for you in my reply. You’ll notice that in my response I specifically said “wasn’t actually offered”, so by your definition that wouldn’t be considered a turn down. Read better.

How many times have you heard Dana say that he doesn't make fights the night of a fight. Yet somehow, he knows Wonderboy has already turned down the fight.

Dana probably got such a hard on from seeing another Irish guy do well that in his mind, Wonder Boy is going to turn down the fight.

Pretty sure he means Wonderboy turned down a fight against Ian Garry tonight (UFC 292), as a short noticed replacement for Geoff Neal. He means Wonderboy could have fought Ian Garry instead of Neil Magny

Good grief some of you.....<45>

I think he doesn't to fight young hungry killers. He wants chill older man fights. He's at the end of his career.
That’s fine, but then take him out if rankings and give him guys ranked 25 to 40 range to fight and tell him he won’t fight for a title again. Bam solves the issue of WB cherry picking and Dana worrying about finding him a ranked guy to fight for possible title aspirations. The old guy treatment is what I would call it.

Also how many more fights does WB realistically have left in him? 3 maybe 4 at most.

If Wonderboy is looking to get a title shot, which he won't, but what he claims, than fighting Garry makes no sense. Besides it being an intriguing fight style wise, I don't see how a Wonderboy/Garry fight moves the needle anywhere for either fighter or the UFC. Unless they're hurting for a Fight Night Headliner.

Now we know Danas history but whether hes lying or fabricating things like usual he is clearly fed up with Wonderboy. Stephen said hes not fighting grapplers, has PUBLICLY ducked fighters like Shavkat and now wont fight a striker too? This wont end well after Michel Pereira fallout too. I think we're gonna see Wonderboy removed from rankings soon.

I believe him, Wonderbreads been getting very picky about opponents lately. In general hes become more of a complainer.

"We don't make matches Saturday night"
"Wonderboy turned the fight down. We make fights (apparently Saturday night)"

on short notice i bet ya.

If wondergirl doesnt wanna fight he can leave the ufc fuckin dodger

Probably some truth to it. Wonderboy hasn't been shy about how picky with opponents he's become. He literally begged for no more fights against grapplers.

He also likes to focus on dates, so I could easily see him turning down a short notice fight, add in some resentment to the UFC over them not paying his show money and I think you have your answer.

Why do the UFC any favours when he isn't happy with them right now?
I’d be picky too if I was a 41 yr old Katana

Can't make it anymore clear for you than your own words and the definition. Sorry you can't grasp something that simple.
