Is he lying?

Full context: "We don't talk about fights the night of the fight."

Timestamped.

Could be Dana on his usual bullshit, twisting things and Wonderboy might just wanted a different date, but eh. Would not put it past WB to turn the fight down tbh.

So what do yo do with Garry? I personally am still interested in the Geoff Neal fight.

Probably some truth to it. Wonderboy hasn't been shy about how picky with opponents he's become. He literally begged for no more fights against grapplers.

He also likes to focus on dates, so I could easily see him turning down a short notice fight, add in some resentment to the UFC over them not paying his show money and I think you have your answer.

Why do the UFC any favours when he isn't happy with them right now?

Wonderboy wants no part of Ian. Why would he want to fight a younger and more aggressive version of himself?

I can't believe he actually respectfully called for the Chris to retire.

Did WB provide an explanation for turning it down?

I think there’s a chance that Dana considers any qualifications for a fight to be “turning it down”. Like if Thompson said something like “I’m not available to fight in November” or “I don’t want to fight in Denver” or something and Dana was planning on fighting Garry in that month or location then Dana would say that he turned it down.

Cool.

Wonderboy doesn't need the money and can do what he wants because he achieved that level of success for himself.

My guess is they’re still arguing over whether or not to pay him for the missed fight so Dana is throwing some shade on him

Feel like my first response would have been "For clarification, are you saying you've spoken to him about the callout and he turned it down, or he had previously turned down filling in for this fight?"

Cuz I feel like Petty Dana was talking about the 2nd and using it to justify the 1st. Cuz yeah, maybe Wonderboy who is ranked well higher than both turned down being a last minute replacement, and could have for any number of decent reasons. But that doesn't mean an Ian Garry that just beat Magny wouldn't be a good and acceptable matchup to give a full camp booking against Wonderboy now
