Dana White: Georges St-Pierre's next opponent will be Nick Diaz

Chael earned his first title shot by stomping Nate Marquardt who was on a tear at the time in a #1 contender match. Try to watch fights.

Thank you. I really didn't want to explain

Then Chael again earned his second title fight by consecutively beating two top 10 fighters at MWs.

Anyone that almost wins in a title fight then gets two back to back top ten wins gets another shot ffs.

Respect Dana's decision everyone! Dana has always strived to give GSP the toughest competition at any given time. All sports are big business. Dana made a decision that not only favors the business side of things, but the sportmanship side as well. We may or may not know whether Hendricks was a better decision. But Hendricks will certainly get his chance to prove it with one more fight. The welterweight division is arguably THE most stacked division and choosing a title fight takes more consideration than the other division's title fights which are usually no brainers.

I'm not disagreeing with that. They're going on the "what people want to see the most" principle.

i don't think too many people were calling for sonnen vs. jones. could be wrong though, there's a lot dumbasses out there. edgar/aldo diaz/gsp make sense though

So now it is whoever lost their last fights get title shots? They gonna give them a TUF spot too?

Come the fuck on now.

Hendricks is a much bigger challenge then Nick will ever be. Hendricks is a fucking good wrestler, and has dynamite in his fists.

Nick has decent stand up and a decent ground game, but if BJ couldn't sub GSP, Diaz isn't either.

This is a different story than Chael vs Jones... At least Dana has some form of explanation (everyone else was hurt or said no)

This is unprecedented and really just a PPV money grab. Plus as others have mentioned, it's always a gamble putting Nick Diaz on a big stage/national TV/opportunity of a lifetime. He has a knack for fucking things like that up.

Diaz vs GSP would be a great fight but can we please see Diaz win ONE fight before getting a title shot?

that's like saying andersons next opponent is a good striker. it doesn't matter, gsp will outwrestle him. watch any hendricks fight that didn't end with that power fist. nicks boxing>>>>>hendricks. his jj off his back is better than bj's. hendricks is a harder hitting koscheck

if diaz accepts, meaning if he can be bothered to turn up for the press interviews this time

This is such bull. The UFC has become a joke. What's with all of these undeserved title shots? I could have understood it years ago (with guys like Randy and BJ) when the organization wasn't as stacked. But now?

Don't even started on Brock...

Belfort didn't deserve a shot at Anderson. He had never even won a fight in the UFC at middleweight

Machida didn't deserve another shot at Jones just for beating Bader -- who was his only relevant victory since Rashad! Plus, Bader isn't even that relevant.

Sonnen definitely doesn't deserve a shot at Jones. That fight is just plain retarded. He's coming off of a loss and never won a fight in the UFC's lhw division.

Cain doesn't deserve another shot at JDS after only a one fight win streak and getting ko'd in under a minute the last time they met.

Now Diaz? Who has he beat to warrant a title shot? He just lost to Condit and got suspended! The UFC is going to reward him for that with an immediate title shot? Yea he beat BJ convincingly but BJ is much smaller and doesn't seem to care nowadays. Besides them who else is there? KJ Noons? Cyborg? Zaromskis? Give me a break. The guy should have lost to Mike Aina! Nick plays right into the strengths of GSP and that's why GSP wants to fight him. He knows he is going to win. Nick is slow and has awful tdd. GSP is going to take him down every round and control him. Nick isn't going to submit him. Who has Nick ever submitted? A gassed out Cyborg? GSP has one of the best sub defense in the UFC.

Hendricks deserves the fight and it would be a much more intriguing match-up.

Henderson lost to Rampage then got a title shot with Anderson.
Differant weight class but still...
