Media Dana White: Andrei Arlovski should consider retirement

"omg NO U RETIRE DANA"

<36>

"We dont want to keep paying this guy 500k to show and do sparring cardio kickboxing for 15 minutes"

Sounds like they worked out a deal. Dana pulls the strings to get his pay consistently raised, and he gets a kickback.

Arlovski has always bounced back in the past every time he got put out, I think they should give him a couple more if he wants it. It's not like the fight was a blowout. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take a few other HW noobs to decision after this fight.
Boring as fuck decisions

He's not going to retire as long as he's making 300K to fight and usually beat regional tier heavies, they'll have to cut him. How the hell does he still have a contract like that anyway?

I like him. But I think it’s time. His wins aren’t exactly easy on the eye. And his losses are pretty much all the same. If the fight properly kicks off, he’s getting finished

No shit.

I had to look it up to make sure I was right, but it's been 8 years since he last finished a fight. Last finish he has was Travis Browne in 2015 via TKO

This is a classic case of nice vs. kind.

Dana is stating concern for Arlovski; but is very unlikely to take any action to positively affect the former champ's financial security if Arlovski retires.
His words are worthless.

Arlovski is one guy I'm not worried about in this regard. If he's struggling for money he must be absolutely illiterate financially.

100% Agreed!

That still doesn't change the fact that Dana's not offering any incentive for a guys who's 4-3 in his last 7 (and earning good money) to retire.

I suppose the incentive is not getting anymore brain damage lol. But I think Andrei's chin has already cracked once then been beaten so much it came back and now cracked again so a couple more KOs and he's going to have an iron jaw again.

Again, couldn't agree more!

That said, he only has two KO/TKO losses over the last 5 years; and is still winning more than he's losing.
I could see a former HW champion of the world (no matter how long ago that was) still wanting to fight considering how much he's making.

Again, I'd like to think I'd go another direction; but...

You never know what someone's thinking/feeling about their own sh-t; you dig?

While I don't know much about as[ect, I think that the UFC should be "buying these guys out" and putting them to work in their PIs and developing/scouting new talent/gyms/etc... more than they're already doing.

That's just a polite way of saying they're tired of paying him $300k to decision people on the prelims, and now that he finally stopped winning they can justify cutting him. UFC = U FIGHT CHEAP, doesnt matter how big of a name or what legacy you had, it you become a burden to them financially you are dead meat, Dana is a sociopathic scumbag.

Obviously Arlovski buying Dana a gun every year has earned him special privileges with the boss. If he weren't doing that he'd have been cut a long time ago.
