Media Dana White: Andrei Arlovski should consider retirement

Hard to retire when for the most part you’re getting into what looks like some low intensity sparring sessions against guys like Vandeera and Sherman while making 300K flat to show
Of course! But when it goes bad and you get stopped at his age its no bueno. When I saw Lawler take that beating against Barbarena...I was like...heyyy thats enough man. Too old to be taking beatings like that.

I agree and I think it’s time for him to hang it up but I completely understand why he’s not. Like hey if you’re going to keep giving me regional level 3/4ths of the time I’ll keep stacking checks so my kids can have a trust fund

Does Andrei have a no release clause in his contract?

300K show money for the prelims on a fight night card and now back to back losses.

I don't think anyone would see it as doing a former champ dirty to give him a fond farewell along with his walking papers. Just don't have Andrei find out he's been cut via twitter

That's why Dana is saying that. The trains coming to a stop soon

Hopefully his next fight is a retirement fight against some can so he can ride off into the sunset in style

Then they make new reebok deals.

Was gonna say that Dana was pissed because that's probably the one time where he got the worst out of the contract but the way he answered that seems like he likes Andrei and is not too worried about paying him. Good for them.

34-22

he's fucking crap
Meh. He's definitely slowing down and lost his last two...see your (and Dana's) point but disagree that he's crap. Dude is a former champ and legend.

Still, give the guy some credit. What are you doing?

That's not his problem, it's Arlovski's and his team problem. They decide, not Dana. Dana should just pay the man for his efforts and be quiet, because it's in the contract. Ah, and offer him 3 fights per year until the end of the contract, don't forget will ya?

WAR ARLOVSKI!!

Dana was asked a direct question. Is he supposed to just say no comment? I'm not a fan of Dana either but he's just answering a question that was asked of him. He didn't go out of his way to rip on AA.

How much is Andrei being paid these days? It probably isnt cheap considering hes an ex champ and has been in the profession for almost 25 years. Dana probably sees it draining the UFC bank account but does not really want to release Andrei himself so he lets him consider retirement

Bingo.

Arlovski's base salary per fight is roughly 250k...win or lose.

That is only his last two fights too...his contract before that was paying him about 350k guaranteed.

It is nice to see someone getting paid relatively well and also not be stuck on that bullshit show/win structure.
