He doesnt have to. Not like gane throws a bunch of power shots. Because hes a point fighter. Francis probably run through him. Gane will be on his back foot the entire fight till going to sleep. Surely hes not going to be walking francis down... he wins a decision or wakes up in a week. 5 rounds for francis to land a flush shot. Is more then enough time.
I'm curious how that would go. Jon has not really tried to wrestle much since gus 2. Reyes did a pretty good job keeping it standing and depending on how heavy jon comes in at I'd have to assume gane will be the much stronger man.Jones would resort to taking gane down probably.
I'm pretty sure he would have a decent speed advantage even though gane is quick for his size. Also he has like a 4 inch reach advantageI'm not saying that Jones would be unjustified in doing so - I'm just making a statement of fact that that would be the clearest and probably only advantage he has over gane in terms of skills.
Jones can only win this via wrestling (if he can get Gane down, that is)
If he doesn't get Gane down, he's in for the worst beatdown of his life (unless he faces Ngannou afterwards).
Ye ye i know "GaNe Is A pOiNt FiGhTeR" but only against other big ass and dangerous heavyweight strikers. Jones won't have the power or speed to threaten Gane, hence the latter would run through the former if it stays on the feet.
I can almost guarantee you that Jon Jones (if offered that fight) would immediately decline.I would like to see this fight set up immediately. I think it would be a perfect first hw fight for Jon and a huge popularity boost for gane, who I could see someday being the champ for a long time once ngannou/jones are gone.
I think jones wins a decision pretty handily, they actually have pretty similar mindsets and styles as far as being very controlled. If im the matchmaker I make this fight asap with the the winner guaranteed the next ts.
It's an absolute win win. If jon wins then you got him warmed up to fight ngannou, Cyril doesn't lose anything getting beat by jon, and comes out as a bigger name still right on the cusp of a ts. If gane wins jon has the built in excuse he never should have fought at hw and hes still the best 205er in the world, and gane v ngannou gets way more hype behind it.
Who do you think wins and how?

He is scared of losing his "perfect" fight record, and he has already declined Ngannou and Miocic so I really cannot see him accepting a fight with a top contender like Gane. Plus he keeps saying "oh...I think i'll sit out for a while...no rush...."
Jones is not fighting anytime soon. He's just not. You can speculate on the reasons, but he COULD call up the UFC matchmakers tomorrow and say " fix me up a HW fight, send me 3 or 4 names and I'll pick one and we get it done".
But nope he ain't gonna do that. Dude at this point is semi-retired.
gane beats jones ez
The UFC hates Diva Jon. They would love for him to lose to an up and comer, make a bunch of money in the process and weaken his bargaining power. You would make a terrible promoter, TS. Would an unnecessary risk for one of their only name fighters. Pointless
I have no idea what's going on with Jon. This shit is crazy. I think his ideal dream would be BB beating Ngannou ( not happening) so he can get easy ride to title .
Dana wont like it but ultimately hed cave....but I dont see the beast making it to the 3rd.

This is a weird sitch for me cause I've always called Jones the closest thing we have to " thee goat" ( we dont have one - yet).I think thats pretty much it, Jon ran from Reyes at LHW and the guys who have beaten him look potentialy even worse matches, he hoped to catch a declining Stipe, now probably hopes Lewis upsets Francis and he can get a title shot against him.
