Is the effect of the delay in the bill comparable to the effect of the Trump Admins response to the virus? IMO it isn't even in the same order of magnitude; therefore I think its a moot point at best.

I agree with you, think I misinterpreted your post to mean the bill had no effect instead of the short delay in it's passing having no effect.

I'm not defending CNN lmao.

The article is literally a couple of former state department officials quoted as being confused and levying criticism regarding the "aid" (since we paid for it after all).

Seriously, that's it? Former officials giving their opinions of this deal is enough to make you guys all frothy? I would say you're as soft as toilet paper, but once you get to 2 ply you can at least wipe your ass.

Then what makes it newsworthy?

Honestly, no one has ever heard of the people they quote by name so it's obvious that the article was written to bash Trump for taking aid.

Oh btw. we paid 1/2 price for it.

I didn't expect him to close down the borders prior but South Korea had shown us the blueprint for a good approach and our leader went the opposite way.

They were completing tons of tests and when they found an infection that person's prior whereabouts were investigated and those who live near those hot spot areas were sent alerts about specific places where infections where found near them so they could be avoided. That's high levels of testing and very specific information shared with the public in almost real time.

We are in April now and testing here is still a debacle. The information we get is vague, contradicting, shitty sound bytes from press conferences that are now led by folks who got their positions through nepotism that are as much if not more campaigning and self congratulating as they are informative. "We're looking at that" "That's something we've talked about" "It's like the flu" "It's not like the flu" "anyone who wants a test can get one" "we are scrambling to find tests" "The tests are being produced by the millions and are on the way!" "No, we don't have tests".

I don't fault him for not closing the borders down earlier, that was a tough spot. I fault him for horrendous communication, a poor roll out of testing, and an inability to get satellite hospitals set up in places like NYC.

Take the floating hospital sent to NYC that Trump has been patting himself on the back over all week. It's been there for awhile and has seen a whooping of twenty patients. They won't allow the others aboard because of a list of 50 medical conditions they don't want to deal with. The head of biggest hospitals in NY is calling it "a joke". It's use was very poorly planned and this obviously was not a solution. If Trump's team would spend half as much time dealing with this as they have spent patting themselves on the back for an action that isn't working, we might actually treat some sick folks. But that doesn't seem to be where their priorities lie.

Biggest city in our nation, the center of finance, has needed a satellite hospital for like a month and it's April and they still have nothing resembling that. That's not a issue other leaders haven't been able to handle.
South Korea has less than 1/6th the population of the United States and is literally right next to China. They're not the United States.
As far as minimizing what the Coronavirus is early on, what do you think he was supposed to do? Go on TV and tell everyone we're going to die before we know how severe the problem is? We don't do that in the states. We never have. We don't shut down world trade and commerce over a virus. You're saying we should have expected unprecedented action for a problem we didn't understand.
There's a lot of shit in your post thats not really in Trumps control. Whats he supposed to do? Fly over to the military ship and wheel the sick on himself?
The flu comparison- I mean really, its not so far off as people are saying. He's talking about death toll and how widespread it is. As many as 60,000 people died from flu last year and generally the same sort of unhealthy people that are dying from Coronavirus. People act like its some whacky comparison that makes no sense at all when really they get exactly what he's saying. Its always got to be spin and "thats not EXACTLY what he said!" type BS. Whatever Trump says, the next day the MSM will be saying the exact opposite and we all know it.
The hospitals- you say biggest, wealthiest city in the nation? So why are they so unprepared to treat their taxpaying citizens? Because of Trump? Come on.
Coronavirus is China's fault. We're all suffering, everyone in the world, because of China and here we are screaming "racism" and sewing fear to spite a US leader some people don't like.
Pretend all you want, no one in Trumps position would have done anything any differently and we all know it.

You bring up South Korea's size as an excuse when they real question is, why were we only able to do a FRACTION of the testing a country a 1/6th of our size was able perform in early March when it mattered the most? It's not their population size that got them more testing done, it was their leadership.

Um, he doesn't need to fly to NYC and board the hospital ship to solve this issue. He's the commander in chief. He can communicate that it's current mission has set too strict standards on what it will treat and thus needs to be reassigned a new one so we aren't blowing an insane amount of tax dollars to have a giant floating hospital that treats less than 2 dozen patients.

Just FYI, anyone who actually knows what they’re talking about is cringing at your post.

Please go read the cdc statement from feb 11 and stop embarrassing yourself.

The inability for you to criticise your own President is mind blowing. Are you saying this was the perfect response?

Yes, thats literally what I said. "Perfect." Thanks for not putting words into my mouth.

How many stories has CNN run over the years criticizing the US for importing hundreds of millions of dollars in goods from China each year?
What the fuck does that have to do with the government response to Covid-19?

Okay ill rephrase it then; how would you rate the Trump Admins Response?
About on par with what I would expect from any other US president. Our country gets sick when shit like flus and coronavirus are about. We can all pretend Obama, Hillary, Biden or Bernie would have done differently but they wouldn't have. The economy is no little thing, its not something we're just going to let nose dive until the situation is already dire.

CNN ran a story casting the US getting goods from Russia in a negative light. Why would they do that but not do the same for the US getting goods from China?
