I wonder what literally every civilization that kept stockpiles of needed supplies would think of your position. I'm thinking of a Roman governor eschewing the need for grain silos because grain doesn't last forever.
You don't have a grasp of proportion or economics, here.

We don't stockpile a volume on food on an ongoing basis to handle the Great Potato Famine or the Dust Bowl, for example. This would be like over-engineering a product. It doesn't make sense even from the point of view of insurance.

I walked to Central Park in NYC and they just set up these huge white tents all over the streets and in the parks, and its owned by Mt Sinai hospital. They ran out of space in the hospital.

Looks like this but in the city streets and in the park

Why are people bitching at Trump for extending quarantine for another 30 days, when they were bitching at him for trying to open too early by Easter?

There is a federal quarantine? Doesnt seem like it where I live

Yes, but we stockpile medicines and medical supplies, or we used to, because we know about the ever evolving nature of micro organisms, and how they can overwhelm our shitty healthcare system, like we're seeing right now.

It's amazing you speak on these things while not grasping even the basic idea of disaster preparedness. It's like the ole' "You don't need it until you REALLY DO" axiom has been lost on you entirely.

Ventilator tech advances so much every five years that we rotate out inventory that often. They are typically 30000 each. So you plan is that the government should rotate out 50000 vents every five years to the landfill? Solid plan. You should run for office On that.
It is so insanely retarded to suggest that older technology stockpiled is worse than none.

This "it would have been illogical to stockpile" given our stockpile shortages with respect to long predicted virus outbreak is a new level of sherdog dumbfuckery that impresses on so many levels.

It's eternally dumb premise just reeks of "let's not cast blame now"...for the catastrophic failure of long term planning and leadership it clearly is.

"We used to."

Tell me...how many respirators did we "used to" stockpile? How many more than we do now? Give me a concrete figure.

It seems on ventilators, we have been unprepared for probably at least a decade. On other medical supplies, well, the results in past epidemic responses speak for themselves in comparison to this federal response.

I await the death count you'll bring pertaining to H1N1, failing to note the death toll being mostly from before it was recognized as a novel strain..........

I also await your reasoning as to why we have a federal stockpile in the first place, and why your assessment is more sound than the obvious assessments that led to its creation.

So you can't even cite a figure despite that you were just ranting about this.

Jesus, dude, you're so full of shit.

There isn't a quarantine to extend. You are misinformed.

Pray tell, why do you think the federal stockpile was created in the first place?

What reasoning could you find that might lie at the root of it's creation?

Hint - it's a basic, yet profound fact that seems even a child should grasp with even 20 seconds of instruction from a capable adult or young adult.

Here's a page to enlighten you on the basic facts pertaining to disaster preparedness you're arguing against.

You don’t have even have the beginning of a faint idea of what you’re talking about but you have a strong opinion anyway

But have I admitted to being in my 30s and still in community college (and also fat)?

Oh, you got angry over a joke.

I'm sorry my state has readily available education and I'm capable of bettering myself.

Also, a few of you guys have said I'm still in community college, which seems to show you don't know how college works.
