You don't have a grasp of proportion or economics, here.I wonder what literally every civilization that kept stockpiles of needed supplies would think of your position. I'm thinking of a Roman governor eschewing the need for grain silos because grain doesn't last forever.
We don't stockpile a volume on food on an ongoing basis to handle the Great Potato Famine or the Dust Bowl, for example. This would be like over-engineering a product. It doesn't make sense even from the point of view of insurance.
