You care to address the actual topic here, like the lack in testing kits made available to the states, the admin giving taxpayer funded medical supplies over to corporations to price gouge the states with, or using the FBI to confiscate legally bought medical supplies from the state stockpiles and hospitals?

Actually, the day after Trump mentioned Hydroxtchloroquine, Bloomberg had stories about how Trump was poisoning us with Hydroxychloroquine. CNN bashed him for touting an unproven drug based on anecdotal evidence, then did the exact same thing with remdesivir.
People wouldn't have to make excuses for the president if so many people didn't put words in his mouth and present it to the nation as fact. Injecting lysol, for example. Lets be real, we all know thats not really what he said, yet how many people act as though thats exactly what he said? I begrudge him for his complete lack of intellect to describe it properly. I really truly begrudge him for harping on HC for weeks in the way he did. If he was saying something like “we don’t know yet for sure... takes more testing but I’m hopeful for _____. But know that there are also dangers to the treatment so we need to be careful.” Instead it sounded like someone close to him said it was awesome and Trump, in his typical fashion, assumed he knew more than experts and tried to push it because he wanted to ward off economic fallout from people naturally distancing out of fear because of lacking treatment.

He didn't ramble incoherently at all. You heard what you were told to hear. He simply said he wondered if there was some way to do that and people decided to run with it and take it a few steps further than what he actually said.
I will agree that perhaps he shouldn't ponder theories aloud but I would also say its a little ridiculous to pretend he said shit he didn't say.

He's privy to a lot more info than we are, obviously. The virus came from a lab and they already know it, is my guess. While he was talking there were probably a couple people saying "The fuck!? Is he really talking about the UV we just mentioned?".
