Law Coronavirus the US GOV'T Response analysis Thread v2

Trump throwing tantrums and threatening to sue his own campaign manager due to bad polling caused by his incompetence, stupidity and lack of leadership with regards to the pandemic.

Paywall but:

He lashed out at Mr. Parscale and said it was other people’s fault that there have been fluctuations in a race they had all seen as his to lose just two months ago. At one point, he said he would not lose to Mr. Biden, insisted the data was wrong and blamed the campaign manager for the fact that he is down in the polls, according to one of the people familiar with the conversation. Mr. Trump even made a threat to sue Mr. Parscale, the person said, although it did not appear to be serious.

Looks like Trump has a hard time remembering what he said 24 hours ago.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...avirus-tests-us-how-many-update-a9491011.html

On Tuesday, Admiral Brett Giroir, the assistant secretary of health who is the coronavirus testing director, said in an interview with TIME Tuesday, "There is absolutely no way on Earth, on this planet or any other planet, that we can do 20 million tests a day, or even five million tests a day." By May, Giroir said the U.S. would be testing 8 million per month.

When a reporter asked in an East Room event whether the U.S. would surpass 5 million coronavirus tests per day, the president said that's coming "very soon." But on Wednesday, the president claimed he never said that, blaming a "media trap."

Dastardly media, always asking Trump straightforward questions that he doesn't know the answer to because he doesn't pay attention to anything or read any briefings so he BSs or blusters through.

Most policy decisions don't offer a choice between the right way to go and the wrong way to go. They offer differing sets of trade-offs, and different people happen to be willing to make different trade-offs.

If one person or community tends more toward freedom and economic stability, and another person tends more toward community safety and healthcare, neither of those people or communities is simply "wrong" or "right."

That doesn't mean there are no wrong or right choices.

You might find that your decision to privilege freedom and the economy results in more death than you anticipated or were thinking that you were trading off and, furthermore, might even result in more long term economic harm than had you leaned more into the community safety and healthcare side of things.

Likewise, you might find that your decision to privilege community safety and healthcare results in a more devastating negative economic impact than you anticipated or were thinking that you were trading off and, furthermore, might even result in more long term healthcare harm than had you leaned more into the freedom and economic stability “ side of things.

We don't know. Which is why it's interesting to watch different states making different trade offs to see what their different results turn out to be.

Sorry while that is true in some some cases it’s also total BS in others. Sometimes policy is just suboptimal and clearly not worth the trade off and involves unneeded risk. We could have done way better on testing and coordination. “We don’t know” in the face of a pandemic calls for a more conservative reaction rather than treating each state like a mini experiment. We may get away with that this time but that could cost millions of lives one day if that’s the take away approach from this.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican leaders have spent months promoting the myth that red low-tax states are subsidizing blue high-tax states because of the deduction for state and local taxes.

An Associated Press Fact Check finds it’s actually the other way around. High-tax, traditionally Democratic states (blue), subsidize low-tax, traditionally Republican states (red) — in a big way.

Republicans are trying to eliminate the deduction as part of the sweeping tax package working its way through Congress. They added back a deduction for up to $10,000 in property taxes, in a concession to Republicans from high-tax states such as New York and New Jersey. California Republicans are pushing to extend the deduction to local income taxes, too."

It is true that taxpayers in high-tax states benefit the most from the deduction. However, these states send far more tax dollars to Washington than residents in low-tax states.

In fact, most high-tax states send more money to Washington than they get back in federal spending. Most low-tax states make a profit from the federal government’s system of taxing and spending.

HOUSE SPEAKER PAUL RYAN:

— Ryan said the rest of the country is “propping up profligate, big-government states.”

— “States that got their act together are paying for states that didn’t,” the Wisconsin Republican said.

TREASURY SECRETARY STEVEN MNUCHIN:

— “We are getting the federal government out of the business of subsidizing states. That is going to impact high-tax states.”

THE FACTS:

Connecticut residents paid an average of $15,643 per person in federal taxes in 2015, according to a report by the Rockefeller Institute of Government. Massachusetts paid $13,582 per person, New Jersey paid $13,137 and New York paid $12,820.

California residents paid an average of $10,510.

At the other end, Mississippi residents paid an average of $5,740 per person, while West Virginia paid $6,349, Kentucky paid $6,626 and South Carolina paid $6,665.

Low-tax red states also fare better when you take into account federal spending.

Mississippi received $2.13 for every tax dollar the state sent to Washington in 2015, according to the Rockefeller study. West Virginia received $2.07, Kentucky got $1.90 and South Carolina got $1.71.

Meanwhile, New Jersey received 74 cents in federal spending for tax every dollar the state sent to Washington. New York received 81 cents, Connecticut received 82 cents and Massachusetts received 83 cents.

California fared a bit better than other blue states. It received 96 cents for every dollar the state sent to Washington.

On average, states received $1.14 in federal spending for every tax dollar they sent to Washington. That’s why the federal government has a budget deficit."

Actually paying attention to Trump’s words. Lol at this level of TDS. Next you guys are gonna start holding him accountable for his policies and actions.
His slogan for 2020 should be, I take no responsibility.

So the republicans once again lied and pushed fake nonsense. This information has been widely known for quite some time though. Much like climate change is a hoax, trickle down economics works and mass voter fraud done by democrats.

Not much that comes from the mafia lite Republican Party is truthful.

Imagine trying to get people to believe states that finish last like Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi are propping up New York or California. The republicans are so disgraceful.

Look at this shit. Sleepy Joe can barely talk!!

Russian agent turns on Trump/Pence!

Did he get COVID? No? What's the problem, then?

Tulsi is getting pretty desperate and obnoxious these days, trying to stay relevant. Throwing bombs at everyone gets old without any results. She just wants attention.

Grieving Families Need Help Paying for COVID-19 Burials, but Trump Hasn’t Released the Money
"FEMA has helped pay for the burials of victims of past disasters. But months into the coronavirus pandemic, the Trump administration has sat on similar requests. Families of COVID-19 victims have been forced to turn to religious centers and GoFundMe."

Yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous at how pessimistic the media is.

New potential treatment: "Not Proven! Don't expect it to work! Probably kill you!"

Cautiously easing some restrictions: "You're all gonna die!"

It's a fuckin' joke.
