Emergency powers are scary in their own right, potentially without limit. Hoping things don't get so out of control that we don't recognize our government on the other side of this. Massive coronavirus stimulus package from my government ($17.6B AUD).
Interesting that the stimulus package is so much bigger than the initial one for the GFC ($10.2B AUD. Although they almost quadrupled that for the second GFC stimulus package, even if mostly on much needed infrastructure spending).
Not sure if that's an indicator of how much comparatively worse our economy is currently doing, the evaluated impact of that first package or expectations for how bad the coronavirus impact is going to be.

No screening at airports, no travel bans, next to no testing, no mandatory quarantines and mixed messages from all levels of government. We are finally starting to take some positive steps yet we need to scold the US on how they should be doing things. And it's not just physical issues, people will need emotional support too. Most of us here are taking the lead, being proactive and protecting their families already. We won't be able to show fear, weakness in front of them. We'll need to keep pushing forward for our loved ones so I feel a thread where we can open up about shit will be a good way to avoid downward spiral and mental breakdowns in the long run. Specially for those in lockdown.

Good idea on wellbeing - Maybe a separate mental wellbeing thread, as well, this is going to be difficult for a lot of people, and just being able to communicate how you are feeling will help.

And maybe an idea, offer them help but leave the deniers to their denial (i bet they are washing their hands more often and isolating more - let them moan while they do it - unless they are trolls in which case, don't feed them/ threadban them)
