Yup. Werdum is doomed.
Dang, I don't know why I'm laughing so hard at this, but it's pretty amazing. If you play dramatic music while watching, it's even funnier!
Yup. Werdum is doomed.
Considering it was 5th round and Jones used Travis Browne Cagegrab, it was actually pretty damn good IMO.
Just shows that real 'riddle' is getting good hold on Jones legs.
He's just ridiculously good at positioning them out of danger.
Agree, great technique.
It's actually not that great of a takedown for MMA since you don't have control of the person. Hendo got up from a bunch of the slams as well.
Olympic wrestlers don't put much emphasis on control after the takedown, so they often don't have great control. They got good takedowns, but that means fuck all when your opponent can pop right back up.
DC & Yoel probably got less than a combined 10 minutes of top control time in their entire careers since being in a major league like strikeforce/UFC. And most of that is Yoel vs Tavares. If you remove Tavares it's probably less than 5 minutes of top control.
Not the best take down of the night at all. Lifting him up was very impressive, the actual slam was not due to how Jones was able to position the landing.
DC's slam in the 5th > Jones' two takedowns in the 4th
Why go for a TD when he's clearly losing? His pride got in the way. He should've tried to KHO. His pride may have cost him the belt.
Cormier got too obsessed with getting a takedown in rounds 4 and 5. I think he knew he was losing and he wouldn't be able to win, so he was looking for a moral victory by that point.
he was too tired
but still best takedown of the fight
His lack of skill cost him the fight more than his pride. He wasn't able to do much standing maybe he thought he could gnp Jon. Jones beat him in the clinch and in the wrestling department. He clearly out grinded/grappled an olympic wrestler and HW grand prix champ. DC landed a few shots from the clinch but had nothing for JJ.
Wait...isn't that just a trip?
Settle down Tank...
I honestly still can't believe Jones tried to grab outside the cage. Not in a "he's cheating" way... but that his brain actually told him to do it. If Cormier had fallen backward instead of forward, Jones could have seriously f'ck up his shoulder.
