Comparing DJ and Silva's 10 title defenses

I'm an Anderson fan. Deal with it. And don't call me Claudette unless it's saturday night.

LOL. I could almost give you a "Like" for the last sentence.

Yeah he definitely sucked he only has wins over 2 UFC champions

I give up...who was the other champ? Carlos Newton made it to a UFC tournament final, but didn't win.
Emmanuel Yarborough?

7 years ago before the first Chael fight, people were talking about what a hunk of shit MW was and how shitty Anderson's compettion was. Especially after he fought Cote, Lattees and Maia in a trifecta of shit performances.

Mighty Mouse will never look good on paper vs some others because he is the first champ in his division.

If Mighty Mouse took 3 years off we may say in hindsight that he has 8 wins over UFC champions but so long as he keeps winning and stays at 125 he's unlikely to ever face another UFC champ again.

That's a bit like saying that Aldo doesn't have wins over former UFC champions...

And besides, yes, DJ has wins over former Flyweight, (or higher weight) champs.

McCall, Benavidez, Reis, Elliot
No its not, Aldo didn't duck Frankie Edgar because Frankie had never fought at FW, he took the challenge of the former LW champ. All those guys you listed were UFC champs? Didn't realize......

No you got it right you forgot that he beat Pat miletich for the title.

Anderson...

Who the hell has DJ fought outside of Dodson and Benevidez???

Anderson has wins over all time greats. MM doesn't have a single win over an all time great.

Bagautinov was on a year and fresh off an easy win over Lineker and on roids when DJ beat him. Cejudo was an undefeated Olympian when Dodson finished him. Horiguchi is also a really fucking good win.

I'm not a DJ fan, but let's be objective here. Those were all great wins at the time

High Tier:
MM: Dodson, Benavidez, Horiguchi
AS: Franklin, Belfort, Henderson

Medium Tier:
MM: Cejudo, Elliot *
AS: Sonnen, Maia **, Marquardt

Low Tier:
MM: Bagautinov, Cariaso, Moraga, Reis
AS: Leites, Cote, Okami

* You could say Elliot was low tier but he was on a nice winning streak (Titan and TUF)
** Maia was tailor made for Silva, that's why I didn't put him at high tier

Winner: Silva

Solid breakdown. Anderson does win, but it's close than many like to pretend.

How is Elliott above bagautinov? Bagautinov had a win over Elliott and John lineker....

Also, title challengers with true KO power:

Big threats:
AS: Henderson, Belfort
MM: None

Mid-level threats:
AS: Franklin, Marquadt
MM: Dodson

Horiguchi has multiple knockouts on his record, more than Dodson to be accurate.

How does this matter?

How many of Floyd's 50 wins can you name?

At the end of the day the record is all that matters.
Judah, Gatti, Marquez, Pacman, Canelo, Mosley, Castillo, Conor (trollface), Berto, Maidana x2, Cotto, Ortiz, Hatton, off the top of my head. Floyd has fought some elite fighters. He was excellent at doing it at the right time, under the right circumstances though.
