Comparing DJ and Silva's 10 title defenses

Legacy title challenger Tier:
AS: Henderson, Belfort
MM: N/A

High level title challnger Tier:
AS: Franklin, Marquardt, Super Steroid Sonnen
MM: Dodson

Medium level title challenger Tier:
AS: Sonnen, Maia, Okami,
MM: Benavidez, Horiguchi, Bagautinov, Cejudo

Low level title challenger tier:
AS: Cote, Lietes,
MM: Moraga, Elliot

Should not count towards the record at all, as they had no business fighting for a title.
AS: Lutter
MM: Cariaso, Reis, Borg

Also, title challengers with true KO power:

Big threats:
AS: Henderson, Belfort
MM: None

Mid-level threats:
AS: Franklin, Marquadt
MM: Dodson

Solid analysis but I wouldn't say Maia was tailor made for Silva considering Silva's TDD is often considered a weak point, also I would put Okami at mid tier he did beat Marquardt didn't he?

Okami title run wasn't very impresive: victory over Linhares (who?), Split dec over Muñoz, and that win over Nate.
But yeah, he could be put on mid tier status, maybe I'm biased because he was murked by Silva

Andersons's list is overrated but still far superior of MM's list which is mainly made of " Who ? " type of fighters

Anderson is my boy, but MM puts his career to shame:

Anderson's competition:

2-10 Alexander Otsuka
0-1 Caneiro
2-7 Waldir dos Anjos
10-6 Curtis Stout
4-7 Daiju Takase (loss by domination)
7-4 Chonan (loss)

All of these fights were after Silva was ranked #1 WW.

Overmatched/Undersized:

LW's

1-0 Camoes
Azeredo (loss)
5-4 Fontinelle
1-1 Pinheiro
Kato
Sakurai (small WW that later became a LW)

WW's

0-1 Barreto
12-6 Newton
0-3 Albuquerque

Mid/low tier in the UFC:

Stephan Bonnar
James Irvin
Patrick Cote
Thales Leites
Travis Lutter
Chris Leben
Nick Diaz (WW)

What they did before fighting Silva:

*Lutter had no top wins
*Cote had no top wins
*Marquardt had no top wins
*Vitor had no top wins at 185. Was coming off an injury and layoff of a year and a half. Was not on TRT
*Leites earned his shot by getting beat up but winning by deducted points against Marquardt
*Maia came 1-1 in his last 2, with a recent loss by KO in under a minute
*Henderson, coming off a loss at LHW. Also lost his last MW fight against Misaki.
*Okami only had 2 top wins
*Sonnen had 9 losses when he fought Anderson the 1st time, 3 losses in the UFC
*Franklin, champion of a very weak division, only defended his belt twice against Loiseau and Quarry. Took the belt from Tanner.
*Forrest coming off a loss

Silva's division was full of guys who couldn't cut it at 205:

Bisping - never ranked at LHW- MW champ
Boetsch - never ranked at LHW- reached #5 at MW
Munoz - never ranked at LHW- reached #3 at MW
Stann - never ranked at LHW- Top 10 at MW
Sonnen - 1-3 at LHW- reached #2 at MW
Vitor - Lost 6 of his last 8 Pride and UFC LHW fights. Went to MW and became Top 10 again

A division that granted top rankings very easily:

Michael Bisping becomes #8 MW after two wins over unranked opponents:

Then gets bumped from #8 to top 5 after a loss.

Anderson ducked more fighters than MM and anyone in MMA history:

-Ducked elite time proven LHW's during his time at the top (only fought 2 cans and a tailor made ex champion who was coming off a brutal loss. He fought Cormier when he was no longer champion and was on a losing streak)
-Ducked Weidman in 2012 (took time off to avoid him, then returned as soon as Chris got injured. Tried to fight other people). Was finally forced to fight him when he had not option left.
-Ducked Shogun
-Ducked Jones citing weight class difference, while calling out GSP
-Was reluctant to rematch Chael
-Ducked Yoel and Rockhold not long ago, while still asking for Nick Diaz

And the cherry on the cake:

quote-when-you-use-the-steroids-you-use-them-for-a-long-time-when-you-use-the-steroids-for-anderson-silva-106-85-31.jpg

That's some serious cherry picking, passive aggressive bullshit lol.

Anderson should be sitting a 11 too

Fook that weight-missing playboi

We counting it
<{silvanormal}>

This. Let's also not forget that Andy had double knee surgery a month out from the Lutter fight...he still took it, and won, despite that. Silva has stepped up SOOOO many times.

Anderson was way more spectacular. He also isnt a manlet.

Ignore him

He's a Fedor hugger masquerading as a Anderson fan and is threatened by the Spider's greatness.

That's a lie and you know it.

My fellow Silva fanboys are running a smear campaign towards me because I'm extremely honest and objective.

Silva, but not by as big as a margin as people make out.

Anderson ofcourse, but he's had the benefit of being in a deeper division.

DJ will have the title defense record, but not against the same caliber of opponent as a GSP, Jones or Silva.

That said, Joe Louis is considered one of the greatest HW's of all time, yet they often talked about his opponent belonging too the "Bum of the month club".

By your logic, fighters should just go to regional shows like Travis Fulton and Dan Severn did--and win over 100 fights.

It's about both quantity and quality, and always has been.
True, true.

At the end of the day, it's not DJ's fault.

He can't help that he's in a much less talented division.

Anderson

The artistry in how he did it was also levels above MM.
This. His performances are what made the defenses so great (with the exception of 2). Not that DJ hasn't had impressive performances, but Anderson always made people look like they hadn't even trained for him.
