It's crazy because only 2 years DC enlisted Jim Lee to be the penciler of their biggest title JUstice League.
off the top of my head Steve McNiven & Sara Pichelli are pretty fucking awesome
^^ yeah man, I heard he's working on Uncanny Inhumans. can't wait, Inhumans are awesome.
edit: he was great in the Death of Wolverine too.
Yeah Jim Lee nowadays has basically been obsolete as the go to art style that everyone tries to emulate. Seems like now Ivan Reis and Jason Fabok are the top dogs at DC in terms of art.
I would have said JH Williams and Andrea Sorrentino, but dam now Marvel, particularly X-Men has Sorrentino, lucky bastards
but Capullo, Rocafort, Frank, and Jae Lee seem to be among the top dogs as well
Looking for some xmen and fantastic 4 graphic novel recommendations. I've been reading comics for a while now just never knew where to start with xmen.
If you want something more recent, you should read Joss Whedon's ASTONISHING X-MEN #1 to #24 and the conclusion GIANT SIZE ASTONISHING X-MEN. This is the BEST X-Men story in the past decade or so.

If you have the time, patience and resources, you should read Chris Claremont's UNCANNY X-MEN epic run from #94 to #247. This is the formation of the second team which includes most of the mutants everybody knows and loves today.

As for FANTASTIC FOUR, read John Byrne's run from #232 to #293.

Awesome thank you. Should I read grant morrisons run before joss wheadons?
Not necessarily. Whedon's run is pretty much standalone.
Also if you haven't yet, read OLD MAN LOGAN and THE ULTIMATES 1 and 2 (by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch) and thank me later.

At the height of the Cold War, the Soviet Union – determined to win the Space Race at any cost – green lit a dangerously advanced mission. They sent a man farther into the cosmos than anyone has gone before or since. Lost in the stars, he encountered something unknown. Something that…changed him.
Long thought lost and erased from the history books, he has suddenly returned, crash-landing in the Australian Outback. The few that have been able to reach him believe him to be a deity – one who turned the scorched desert into a lush oasis. They say he can bend matter, space, and even time to his will. Earth is about to meet a new god. And he’s a communist.
