X-Men are ending bruh. Marvel is taking them out to spite Fox.
Thats why Bendis is leaving.

I'm kind of disappointed that they sent Prof X back, but seeing as its all overs soon...

Its going to get bananas now tho. Prof X and Eva Bell have totally f'd up the time line now, so things are going to be upside down. Don't be surprised when the end of the 616 gets tied into Beast bringing the original team back to the future. I think that also going to be the reason for the X-Men to "disappear".

Haven't read any Avengers annuals, but I did read the recent Uncanny or All-New X-men annual and it was great. Instead of it being a stand alone story. It was an individual story that related to the current storyline.

I am still reading Avengers. I'm digging it, just not as much as you are.
I picked up the first ish of Black Vortex, but it didn't grab me. Seems like a rush job to capitalize on Guardians and the end of the 616 as we know it. And the artwork was meh.

So, it wasn't available at Whole Foods, yet.
It looks like I can special order it, so I'm going to order a case.
Drink a sixer, save a sixer, and gift the rest. I'll get back to you on the review.\

edit: not sixers, 40oz's. I got 4 being shipped, should have by the weekend.

While not 100% certain, I've heard it'll only be sold in one comic book store in Colorado and the best way to get any of this brew is by ordering it online.

Ordered some of that and the Miramoto Black.

Let me know when you get yours, I'll hold off and we can partake over a Hellboy thread.

Crossing my fingers it shows up this week. I've enjoyed most of what I've had from Rogue.

I want to start collecting and obviously reading comics. Where should I start?

Depends on what your interests are.

Are there any characters/teams that really jump out at you?

Rama I made a typo up top, I was referring to the May Solicits not June for the start of Battle World and that was suppose to be the last solicit for the X-men.

If its true im gonna miss those titles. I like Bendis a lot and like when he has a big role in the MU.

I do like Avengers, everything is coming together nicely and now finally all those lesser used characters are being put front and center. Sunspot, Cannonball, Smasher, The Zebra Kids, the Nihli, etc,etc etc are getting the spotlight and driving the Avengers.

and New Avengers is sick, the latest issue was awesome just the art isn't anything special, Kev Walker. I have to say im disappointed with Marvel for not using a big name artist on these titles at their peak. What the hell did we wait for the past few years.

Also are you planning on collecting any of the Battle World titles and Secret Wars. You should so I can talk to you about them lol...

Im interested in Old Man Logan by Bendis, Infinity Gauntlet, the A-Force all female Avengers and Planet Hulk..

and read Vader 1.. awesome start

To answer both your questions, pretty much all I know is the main stream ones. But I pretty much like everything and would be into getting into some different types of stories than the normal superman, iron man, batman type stuff. Not really into realistic stuff though, I want to read comics to escape reality.

Best comic I've read in years. There's a bigger hardback edition (collects issues #1-18) as well as four, smaller, trade paperbacks (collect #1-24 in six-issue installments).

It's fucking outstanding.

what do you like? mainstream titles or independents? heroes, movies, realistic?

Prod, I finally picked up the Multiversity Source book, didn't realize it was so big, comes with an $8 price dag but seems pretty packed with content..

Nice, place I just moved too has a comic book store right down the street. Will see if they have this there when I get paid on Friday.

Image is generous with their pricing, the first trade is 10 bucks and I think the others that follow are $15. So you get in the door for $10.

Beats the hell out of Marvel's trade paperback format and pricing.

I'm very interested in the sinister six and suicide squad but knowing nothing about comics I would know where to start with those groups. I'm about as noob as they come, all I know are the movies. I've always wanted t start a collection and reading comics but never have been able to get started, now seems like a good time.

Buy the batman court of owls trade. Won't be disappointed. Marvel and dc are doing soft reboots soon so now is a good time to start.

I thought you said Secret Six instead of Sinister Six. I was about to say you're in luck because DC is releasing brand new trades of Secret Six, the first trade just came out actually and I was gonna recommend you buy that shit. You should buy it anyways though because Secret Six is a great series.

Captain Insano, if you wanna get into a title that was around some years back that is out of the ordinary Batman, Superman, Iron Man type of comics start reading this..

DC Comics Secret Six, Vol. 1: Unhinged by Gail Simone and Nicola Scott. This title started in 2008
the title is damn good and gets very good reviews from most who have read it. Personally I thought it was awesome. Plus fits your category of not reading only the "clich

I'm going to second this! Love this book.

I'm going to play it by ear with the Battle World/ Secret Wars stuff. Definitely gonna grab OML. I've never been into the Star Wars comics but Vader did look pretty awesome. Maybe I'll check some out. Dark Horse just had a digital deal a couple months back- the entire collection for a pretty sweet deal.

I really wish they used Smasher more. They went out of their way to establish her origin and then nothing. Kind of par for Hickman's course. Introduce all this cool stuff and then lose it all in some convoluted plot that nobody understands then: deus ex machina!

Woah, Sunspot and Cannonball are Avengers?

If I decide to read a comic, how do I know what trade comes next in that particular storyline and/or how far it goes?

Well you can ask the guys at the comic book store or go by volumes

The runs are usually broken up in trade format as Vol 1, Vol 2, etc etc. or just google it when u wanna see what comes next when youre interested in starting a title.
