Classic Doom 1 & 2 chat

Yeah released whole set about a year ago but wanting to do reveal vids for each map. We'll... this I'd how slow I am
Killing it Clippy...

The Rock should hire you for a Doom remake.

I restarted Doom Eternal during the PSN outage. Gotta say these games have come a long way, but the upgrades more or less SUCK.

Yeah i too wonder what he means....?

The double barrel shotgun getting the flaming hook is like the ultimate motherfucker of all upgrades.

Weapon upgrades are ok, but once I get the ones I want, I have nothing else to do but upgrade the ones I never use.

Nice that when upgrading armor, ammo, and life come with perks, but I'm not finding anything really helpful as a game changer.

All I got to say is e3m7 Limbo and e4m2 Perfect Hatred can get fucked.

Has anyone played Final Doom? TNT Evilution looks potentially doable but Plutonia Experiment seems like torture.

Limbo isn't bad if you're willing to draw yourself a map of the teleporters. Trying to raw-dog it can be an exercise in frustration.

I tried both and gave up after a level or two because of how obscure the levels were. It's like they looked at the most obnoxious parts of Doom 2/Hexen and said "YES! MORE OF THAT!" When the hardest part of the level is figuring out what the hell you're supposed to be doing to advance...then you should be reevaluating your level design.

Yeah no kidding. I ran around for a half hour looking for the teleporter to the last key, the one on the little island. They all look the same.

That's what I figured. Agreed, the one thing about classic Dooms I don't like is how confusing some of the levels are. Quake's are so much more straightforward while still being interesting. I just want to fight demons.

The 'teleporter bullshit' that got me the most during a first play was e4m6 Against Thee Wickedly because the central teleporter takes you to different places depending on which direction you enter from, a mechanic not used in any other level. Nothing like introducing a new game machanic in the middle of a lava floor where you don't have time to think about it.

TNT has some fun maps like Mount Pain. Plutonia just really isn't any fun.

Haha I hate the teleporter bs. I just started episode 4 and haven't done that level yet but I'll watch a playthrough now for sure.

E4m2 Perfect Hatred actually has that mechanic... the teleporter in the side room to the left of where you start has two exits depending on whether you enter from the front or back after going through the secret room. I remember it well because I didn't know about the secret room which leads to a new platform where you can safely snipe the three barons. Instead I kept trying to fight them in that little room like an idiot lol. That map was so frustrating.

Speaking of E4M6 in Ultimate Doom do y'all know what this room is for? If you turn off clipping it's empty.
