Media Ciryl Gane explains why he's ducking Curtis Blaydes

I believe the ufc strategically made Gane/Tai and Blaydes/Aspinall. They figured Aspinall had a better shot at beating Blaydes than Gane did.
They could have made Gane/Aspinall and Blaydes/Tuivasa but Aspinall probably also had a better shot at beating Blaydes than Tai did. And I think ideally the UFC wanted both Tuivasa and Aspinall to win.

Gane/Tuivasa was interesting because although they fight nothing alike they both have Muay Thai backgrounds.

I’ve always said the UFC is trying to keep Blaydes as far away as possible from their “French meal ticket”… glad Gane can admit it.

He has no shot of stopping Blaydes takedowns.

I wanna change the perspective, this is great for Blaydes in terms of title aspirations. Wait and see if Gane can win the belt because theoretically it’s easy money.

He’s not getting the 3rd fight against Francis regardless so this might play out bette. Just don’t know what he does in the mean time

Then go post in the Lightweights
oh come on man lol your a good poster too.

i just think heavyweight is the weakest its ever been right now. i guess its getting better though. francis is a brute but he wins. im not convinced with ganes grappling. so the rest in the division are pretty weak. stipe is old. jones im not convinced is going to ever fight at HW.

He fought like 4 days ago and has a broken hand but somehow he is "ducking" him.

Blaydes has two healthy knees, vastly superior wrestling to Ngannou, better cardio, and better ground and pound… he would make Ganes face explode from elbows.

No one is afraid to fight Blaydes. He's inching close to gatekeeper status.

I appreciate his honesty.

Yeah, Curtis is NOT a smart match for him. He's not an asshole for using his brain to navigate the fightgame. Part of winning is winning before you step into the ring, too, sometimes.

I think the top 5 today would demolish any other top 5 at any other time in history, but that's just a biased opinion. I think you'll be surprised with Gane's improvement in wrestling just because he's so athletic and a fast learner. Look how Ngannou improved from the first Stipe fight to the second.

I think Tai wanted the fight with Gane because their both strikers. Blaydes and Aspinall would have both taken Tuivasa down. I’m sure Gane felt the same way.

I disagree with the name thing. Curtis has headlined 6 UFC events, 1 more than Gane. With some big finishes (giving and receiving). He only has 3 loses to Francis and Black Beast who are 2 of the biggest hitters ever. Nobody at HW is a big PPV draw outside of Jones if he ever takes a fight. Honestly the fight makes a lot of sense. Gane needs his wrestling tested and Curtis has won 3 straight.
