Media Ciryl Gane explains why he's ducking Curtis Blaydes

I think both Gane and Curtis have a path to the title, I rather see them fight each other for the belt.

I believe the ufc strategically made Gane/Tai and Blaydes/Aspinall. They figured Aspinall had a better shot at beating Blaydes than Gane did.
200% agree and I'd have rather seen Gane vs blaydes and asspinall vs tai but man I was wrong when the fight happened. Tai gane at least

Agree. Aspinall has some amazing grappling of his own. I think the UFC figured he could handle himself on the ground with Blaydes. Blaydes is clearly not a guy they want in or around the title picture. Problem is he's too damn good to not be in there.

Gane is being smart, I think he should stay away from Blaydes. He is too raw in the wrestling still.

Blaydes is a very difficult fighter to beat, lets remember he only ever lost to 2 guys in his entire career, and they were just 1 punch KO's out of nowhere. No one has given him a real whooping in any fight.. I warned people on the Tom 'new greatest p4p fighter ever' threads that this is a very difficult matchup, because I haven't seen that 1 punch KO in Tom so far. Shame it ended like that but I feel Blaydes is much better than people think, he has beat up everyone he has ever faced, yeah he did lose to Black Beast and Ngannou but they were just 1 punch out of nowhere type endings that always seem to happen in HW, and I have yet to see that 1 punch KO in Gane, more of a volume guy.

I can easily see Gane getting stuck on the mat like Overeem and beaten up badly.

Overeem was post prime and concused... but yeah Curtis shows in his other fights he is hard for anyone not named Ngannou or Lewis.

Curtis should ask for a Lewis rematch to avenge the loss it wouldnt hurt and personally if I was him I would want it.

Of course I was thinking the same thing. The UFC wants to have multiple hyped stars.

Gane has never been finished and has 1 loss only and it is to Ngannou and he barely lost by decision. Now it was a 1 legged Ngannou but fans wont remmeber that and looking at the record it doesnt say that in asteriks.

UFC figured and hoped Gane would beat Tai and have even longer to work on his grappling.

Gane sits out and gets next title shot in 2023 the hype rebuilds. UFC likely hopes Jones loses to Stipe to reduce Jones bargagning power than has Jones fight again vs someone he may more likely beat or have Jones sit out to face Ngannou if Ngannou losses to Gane in a rematch which is what the UFC likely hopes for. The UFC got what they wanted from Ngannou and dont like his 1 leg out the door stance.

If the UFC locks in Stipe vs Jones they will then likely say Gane is getting Ngannou in March. If Stipe wins maybe they give Stipe a shot at the belt but I can see the UFC passing Stipe up due to his inactivity and lack of star power.

The UFC also likely hoped Aspinall would of beat Curtis as Aspinall had not lost in the UFC and has the potential IT factor for a certain market. With Aspinall out for a year the hype train has to focus on Ngannou and Gane. Also in the mix is Pavlovich who the UFC moved to 5th ranked but to get his hype going he needs another win vs someone decent.

Gane has nothing to worry about. Curtis is the last guy the ufc will give a title shot to, solely because of his two losses to Francis. Ufc is still trying to get Stipe to play ball for the Jones interim title fight, but Stipe does what Stipe wants and it’ll be on his terms not the ufcs.
At this point Miocic/Jones for an interim title is a joke. Gane/Blaydes for interim. Winner fights Ngannou mid 2023. Stipe and Jones can fight each other whenever they get around to it in a legends match.

I would of preferred Gane vs Blaydes but I wouldnt have made that match if I was the UFC. Gane should be protected. French market, he is shredded and has a good chance to avenge his loss you dont want to ruin that hype before it has properly taken off.

The UFC if they are smart will also do the same with Pavlovich who has the Russian market and is like the white Ngannou who only has 1 loss via a tko to Overeem. Give him people he can beat 1 or 2x more fights than title shot by early 2024 or late next year.

UFC can then have 2 market hypes French and Russian

Aspinall can also be rehyped and his loss explained by freak injury but he needs to get some wins. And sadly is out for 1 year at this rate.

No. Gane vs Blaydes for interim is logical

But dont kill both star power

Have Gane sit out. No interim belt it hasent even been a year no need for it. Jones vs Stipe is a joke for interim and better not happen Stipe fights 1x a year for the past 5 years he is ridiculously inactive. Jones has not had a HW fight.

Why risk Gane losing and killing his hype? Gane is likely to decision Ngannou in a rematch. Blaydes the UFC should either feed to Stipe if Stipe beats Jones or should feed to Jones if Jones losses or wins. Or maybe tell Blaydes if he beats someone else he gets the next title shot in late summer of 2023.

Well, since Gane is out half a year with a broken finger and Blaydes has been very vocal in his goal of fighting as often as he can (hey, a great way to become a millionaire w/o PPV points is to fight 3x/yr at $500k each), they can be passing ships in the night for at least another year.

Why are we ignoring that Gane recognizes that there is more risk than reward by admitting that Blaydes is dangerous?

Stipe is the one holding the fight up, Jones wanted to bang in July but then got told September and now hopefully December.

I think at this point, Blaydes likely gives Gane a beating on the ground. I don’t blame Gane for trying to avoid that match up, but it’s a shame as a fan because I want to see him tested in that area. Gane is a remarkable talent, but it’s hard to get that bad taste of a one legged Ngannou out wrestling him out of your mouth. Just an ugly look and seeing him beat guys like Tuivasa isn’t the remedy I’m looking for myself.

Still, you can’t blame him much. Blaydes is a hard stylistic match up for him and for some reason isn’t thought highly of by general fans. Thats too bad as well because Blaydes is a beast that deserves more credit.

Blaydes vs Pavlovich for next in line after Gane?

Here is why the UFC won't book that fight. Francis vs Gane would do huge in a new French market. Blades vs Francis 3 wouldn't even sell to hardcores. Blades is the Rich Franklin of the HW division so long as Francis has the belt.

You know what Gane always says “Anyone (but Blaydes or anyone else that can wrestle), Anywhere, Anytime”
