Love this trailer at 1:15 with the guy saying "There's no hiding from this" and looking dead serious. I think it really sets the tone. It really makes the point, this evacuation needs to happen.There is no choice. We fight or we lose the war.

I thought they lived because the Germans stopped advancing. Wasn't the German decision at Dunkirk one of the key reasons they ultimately lost the war?

Yea this is accurate. But it's not like the Germans were going to wait forever. From my understanding Hitler wanted the luftwaffe to have the glory for whatever reason, and that's what allowed the English time to retreat. Hitler also thought if they left they'd never come back. England was apart of the master race and they'd come to a peace agreement. Which might have happened had he captured those 300+ thousand soldiers.

I'm going to skip the rest of the trailers until this comes out. I saw the 7 min IMAX prologue that they had in certain IMAX theaters back in Dec. and I was sold on the movie then. I'm seeing this in 70mm no doubt. Fuck these tiny 4k screenings.
 
Boy, Nolan sure loves the look of a character in the foreground, back turned, staring off at something huge in the background. Over and over.
 
Not sure how Nolan will do with a non fantastical sci-fi plot -- but his movies are visually pleasing so imax it is
 
i hope im wrong, but i expect to get bored via an incredible mount of "waiting on the beach" scenes relative to the amount of action scenes

It's Christopher Nolan. I expect this time to be used effectively making you care about those people on the beach.
 
Okay, after the first trailer I was on the fence, but the second trailer really sold me.

Officially looking forward to this. Hopefully it's a return to form for Nolan.

i can't say i understand how people like the village but a lot of people watch his movies so there is an audience for them i guess...different people different tastes and opinions, nothing wrong with that i suppose...but without a doubt lady in the water was the worst movie i ever saw and finally after watching the happening i decided i'm never going to waste my time on earth watching another one of his movies

signs and unbreakable were okay but not worth the risk of me watching another one

The Village is actually one of my favorite movies of all time and it's also my favorite M. Night movie. Here's a response I recently gave when someone on here asked me why:

For me, what really makes The Village a masterpiece--and I don't use that word lightly--comes down to the ideas that are explored and the way those ideas are explored.

First, as someone who is constantly uneasy about the ever-increasing ways that technology is dominating our lives, the idea of withdrawing from modern society to seek a simpler, more community-based, less technological way of living is an intriguing one.

Second, I feel like the film does a great job of exploring the concept of innocence: what it is, how it can be lost and whether or not an age of innocence can be recaptured once it is gone.

And finally, beyond the film's ideas and themes, I think the performances, cinematography and score are all top notch.

I feel like, by bringing all of these elements together in the way that he did, M. Night created an experience that is entirely unique. I can't think of another film that reminds me of The Village.

And yet still, Nolan > Shlamalam. Sorry, M night is great, but Memento, Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Inception, and Interstellar > Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, 5 movies no one cares about, and Split.
