Chimaev wants to fight Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira himself said if he is the champion again, he'd love to fight Chimaev... So you're wrong.
Dont care what was said - people say alot in the moment. He wins agsinst Ank its Aspinal or Gane no question. Now Khamzat wants to jump from MW to HW to fight him after Aspinal im sure he would in that case but I doubt Khamzat would go up that far .

He beats Ank like I think he will hes fighting Aspinal or Gane next . Why would he fight a much tougher fight for leas when he can fight a easier fight for more he would have a legit shot at being first 3 division champ .

Only way I see a Khamzat fight with Pereria is if Pereria loses and takes the fight needing a legacy saver hail mary.

Pereira has now lost his belt by getting out grappled, the fight doesn't make sense.

If Khamzat wants to move up shouldnt it be against Ankalaev?

Pereira is 38 years old and near the end, let's just have him do some fun ones, you rather see him just get blanketed?
He said "Chama!"... And posted the Khalil Rountree gif, saying "I'm doing everything to get a second reign and I will be on a tear, if it's Chimaev, get ready for the full violence".

True, I think Tom is easier for Alex than Chimaev. But Alex isn't the type to vacate a belt if he wins....

I disagree. I think Pereira ices Chimaev... Like, brutally.

Given how wrong I was about last night, no one should be betting based on my advice.

But yeah, Alex's striking is frightening. Khamzat obviously needs to close the distance, but he has to walk through the most violent striker he's ever faced to get there.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Khamzat getting flatlined.

They won’t make it because everyone knows Pereira got handpicked opponents on the (all time short) way up at MW and has never had to fight a legit grappler in his life

Khamzat would sub him round one very very easily

Who knows maybe if Pereira wins they’ll see more upside in Khamzat and let him get an easy belt in a second weight class

No thanks. He should be defending the belt against all the number 1 contenders, lets get this sport back to how its supposed to be and have some consistency and substance.
Yep

Once you hear guys talking about second belt instantly after winning you they’re most likely thinking they want to retire as soon as possible and see that as a shortcut to a GOAT resume

I bet Khamzat only fights a 3-5 more times

I understand why he wants this, it's a massive name like Poatan and it will have a lot of casuals wanting to watch this. It would be a massive viewership and easy and probably biggest payday. Makes sense why he wants to maximize his earning before he retires.

And if Poatan has the belt even more so to have incentive to fight him.

So I don't blame Khamzat.

I mean, there's no grappler in UFC. They are all mma fighters. The most grappler based one was Ankalaev. And the fight was a very close 3-2. And Pereira may very well win the rematch. Jiri beat Reyes, Glover. Reyes gave JJ problems and couldn't be taken down. The idea Pereira got an easy route is just very fake.

Very true, its destroyed a lot of the divisions in UFC, constant interim belts, and its a mess. Guys want zero title defenses and calling for a so called "superfight", its so lame and all a flash in the pan. Its not really a superfight is it when you haven't even reigned yet lol.

That’s why I specified at MW, he got one of the easiest routes in the history of the sport, second only to maybe Brock… they brought him in with the sole purpose of getting him to Izzy and booked him to get there

Yeah LHW is just an embarrassing, all time awful division, and Pereira is the second best guy there because everyone sucks or are strikers… they DID protect him from Ank, but whatever, I do respect him and think of him as really good, but the level he is put on by a lot of people has always been ridiculous, he is an elite kickboxer who came into MMA and only had to fight strikers, it’s pathetic that’s even possible to do in 2025

Alex has more of a chance without a draining weight cut. Perhaps same outcome, but Alex defended all of Ank's takedowns. Different fighters I know. Just more interesting at LHW than MW.
Good point …. I didn’t factor Alex weight cut into my thoughts …. I was just thinking about the actual size of him

No one sucks there. That was a division that was giving JJ problems. And it's on a higher level from the Santos/Reyes era. I think you just get attached to the past and don't see that mma evolves. But no, it's not a weak era. And no, he hasn't faced only strikers, he faced mma fighters who had defeated well rounded fights. Pereira is that good. And he's 50/50 with Ankalaev who hasn't lost for almost 10 years while being active. You discrediting Pereira doesn't change the fact he is one of the best mma fighters ever. He isn't well rounded, but his specialty in one area alone and being good enough in another is enough for him to fight anyone in the roster and have a 50% chance of winning. Re-watch his fight vs Ankalaev, you must not have seen the deep technical level the two applied + how close it was (you must think it was dominant, but if you watch it closely you will see it was a 52/48 fight for Ank, slight edge that could go either way).

And you may be in for a surprise when Alex comes back... Because with all respect not to give anything away, but he's elite of the elite... If you dislike him or think he was given an easy path, sorry but you're in forma rude awakening
