He said from the start he wanted to fight him.

Pereira answered once saying "Chimaev calls me only when I have a fight scheduled. When we could fight after the fight with Jamahal Hill and after Khalil Rountree, I called him to go to LHW and he declined. So he only calls me when I have an opponent set. He's an ass clown. If he is not afraid then prove it by accepting when I don't have a fight scheduled, otherwise he's just all talk" — said by Pereira when asked about Chimaev.

they use to have a beef but they have squashed that. He doesn´t hate Poatan but says he is a money fight

Perhaps this'll be the next Champ vs Champ fight if Alex wins his title back.
<mma4>

Alex would KO him stiff within 30 seconds
Idk. It'd be nice to see. I think Alex in HW makes sense if JJ doesn't come back to fight Tom. Otherwise HW would be shallow and Alex vs Tom would be good. If JJ fights Tom tho, then I think Alex vs Chimaev makes more sense if Alex gets the belt back.

Great wrestling but Alex is a big fucking dude... weight classes are there for a reason.

Khamzat mostly fought at 170 and Alex had to kill himself to even make 185...

That's a fight where who lands first. A left hook or a td determines the winner very early. Pereira doesn't have great TDD so he gets strangled. Khamzat has been rocked by everyone who's hit him clean (glass jaw). It's a matter of who strikes first.

Is he going to move up to LHW? Pereira is weighing in at 240 lbs between fights now, he's never going back to 185.

Well, Alex had a hard time vs Izzy and dominated LHW except a 50/50 vs Ank. And I think he gets the belt back vs Ankalaev. Yet he had a harder time on MW. But since he was skilled enough to even when cutting weight to be dominant on MW, moving up to LHW with the size of a LHW makes it easier for him. Not only that but Alex weighs 245 lbs while lean and totally shredded... So if he is an elite LHW from now, then HW would be even easier for him as the bigger the class weight, less skilled the fighters. If they can't make weight (like Izzy vs Jan where Jan dominated) then sure. But Alex can be a proper sized HW, as he's bigger than JJ... With JJ retired no one on HW would stop him, not even Tom. If Chimaev can make a proper weight in LHW then he'd be way harder for Alex, as Chimaev is elite MW. If he can be naturally at let's say, 215 lbs on fight night then no one stops him perhaps on LHW.

Ofc if he and Alex fought with Alex not cutting, that is, on HW, then Alex would likely beat him with moderate problems, it'd be like fighting Tom... But if Alex has to cut to LHW then Chimaev would be maybe the biggest threat to Alex together with Ankalaev... In fact, Ankalaev said he thinks he's the only one who can stop Alex Pereira... And he hinted going to HW possibly if Alex moves up, as he said "Alex would get the belt on HW more easily, I can go to HW too, I weigh 240 lbs" ...

Goat banger doesn't like big GOAT. Not surprised he afraid...

It'd be at LHW of course. Pereira is likely at 245 lbs to fight on HW, he wants the third belt as I think his main intention is to defeat JJ. He said "if I have to fight Aspinall, it doesn't matter, if JJ fights me then I want to fight Aspinall. I've called for that fight already and the UFC called us but he (Tom) declined despite saying before he would fight me. So if I can fight Jon Jones, then Tom will have to defend his belt against me, but he needs to accept, not say he fights anyone but then say he would rather fight others before. I can make even a fight first in HW before facing Tom and then facing Jon Jones"... Tom knows Alex is the biggest threat to him, which is why he pushed the rematch with Ank. Ankalaev said "if Alex wants other fights, we can fight next year again"

Khamzat by sub round 1. Unless you subscribe to the "uppercut is the best TDD option" as quoted by people predicting a James Toney win and which has happened less than 0.01% of the time in all MMA fights.

If you really believe that, then sure, bet the house on Alex by KO round 1.

Well, Ankalaev couldn't take Alex down once when Alex was under the weather. And Ank weighs ~225 lbs on fights night. If Ank could take Jan down easily even with one leg, then Pereira's grappling has improved a lot... In fact, he was the one who got a takedown on Ankalaev. It could be as hard to take Pereira down as it was to take Usman down.

Chim ain't moving up to LHW. Ever.

And Ankalaev is a very good wrestler

While studying at the Dagestan State Pedagogical University, Ankalaev trained in Greco‑Roman wrestling for about a year before transitioning to combat sambo, where he earned the prestigious Master of Sports title in that discipline.

Competing as an amateur mixed martial artist, he achieved success as both Russian and world amateur MMA champion, and was named Russia’s MMA Fighter of the Year in 2015.

His early training took place at the Gorets Fight Club in Makhachkala under coaches Shamil Alibaturov and Sukhrab Magomedov .

Ankalaev's fighting style is rooted in his grappling base, combining Greco‑Roman wrestling and combat sambo to inform his disciplined striking approach in MMA.
