Media Check out Kayla in the sauna

You'd think this kind of extreme cut would classify Kayla as a "weight-bully," but apparently not.
Why would it???

She has NO OTHER CHOICE

135 is the lowest she can go and thats the highest UFC goes

you could call her a weight bully if 145 was there but it aint.

Why would you even bring this up??

WHO BOTHERED TO SPAWN YOU??? AND WHY???

She honestly should stop fighting.

Or I guess one last one vs Amanda and then that should be it.

Already have Olympic gold, already have UFC gold, already have millions from PFL.

I guess if she can keep making decent money beating up some cans in a higher weight class again then sure do that.

it's been solved forever. it's called same day weigh ins.

you can't cheat the system, as much.

you have to be on point the entire time, it eliminates massive weight cuts. you simply can't do it and compete the same day. but you sure as hell can weigh in and compete the same day.

it's a trade off. it would reduce weight cutting anomalies and injuries. and you'd still have plenty of spunk. the weight classes would need to be increased. but other than that, it's been solved, forever ago.
The problem is fighters will still cut weight, some will cut a lot. Don’t under estimate how dumb some fighters are.

Didn’t some guy just die from same day weigh ins not that long ago?

She looks like Christian Bale in The Machinist.

I honestly do not understand why they do not just re-open the 145 lb division, there are plenty of women 145's out there...its sad that a woman of her talent is basically being force to fight at 135 or fight for shit in other orgs.

Someone has to challenge fan narratives and WMMA hype-jobs!

From dave mustaine to a champion in 24 hrs.

good for her. she put in the work and is now making millions and getting a superfight

nobody is forcing her to do this. she could preserve her health and make less money being a sparring partner, running a gym. Or maybe start a successful business. But she CHOSE this.

LOVE this movie!

You're making people dehydrate into losing every single drop of water that their body can spare

We've had people faint and pass out - Renan Barao went from #2P4P to forgotten after he fainted and hit his head on the bathtub

Khabib is undefeated in MMA but if you count failed weight cuts as DQs, he wouldn't be perfect.

It is sickening... but the fighters need to do this in order to be able to compete because everyone else does it.

Just make a rule that you can't have more than 5% difference on fight night, from weigh-ins. Weigh them an hour before the event.

That would stop extreme weight-cutting overnight.

Probem aren't weigh classes, there is 145. But nobody fights at 145 WMMA. She is just a big gal.

Thats nuts. I just don't undersatand why they can't just have her fight at 145. Nunes literally holds the 145 belt. I mean i hate WMMA, but i would'nt mind seeing them fight at this weight. Why drain them both? Let them fight where they both have power and strength.

Kayla is 34 years old and weight cutting gets harder as an athlete ages ... especially women.

If Kayla is a draw and is planning to fight into her late-30s Dana will have to build back up the 145 pound division because Kayla won't make 135 but a few more times, maximum.

As for Nunes, she's not even in the testing pool yet and nothing is signed. But it'd be smart if the fight is at 145 because Nunes also is older and hasn't made 135 for two years. Also if they fight at 145 and Kayla loses she still has the 135 belt so nothing is lost except momentum.

I don't agree with the extreme cutting but..

Nobody is making them do it. They are grown ass adults and professional fighters who are making the choice

She seems like a pretty awesome person. It was heart breaking hearing her talk about what it’s like to put herself through this. Sounds horrible.

Are you kidding me? She's a victim?

Nobody is forcing her to do this.

I didn't say she was a victim or that she was being forced to. I still sympathize with her as an athlete who doesn't have an option to compete in a higher weight division.

Yeah well I'm sure you can pick a better example of some poor sap killing himself like this because he's fighting to make a buck for him and his struggling family.

Not this already rich olympic gold medalist who can make a good living without even having to fight and is only putting herself through this to get every possible greedy advantage.

There’s a reason that there are unions and laws in place to protect workers.

It is to protect weaker people from being exploited by the rich and powerful.

Human beings are not far removed from colonizing and owning slaves.
