Media Check out Kayla in the sauna

I mean she can just...lose weight permanently, but I guess the size advantage is too good to give up.

She looks extremely deflated. That is just not good for your health.

The fact that we haven't solved weight cutting is just dumb.
it's been solved forever. it's called same day weigh ins.

you can't cheat the system, as much.

you have to be on point the entire time, it eliminates massive weight cuts. you simply can't do it and compete the same day. but you sure as hell can weigh in and compete the same day.

it's a trade off. it would reduce weight cutting anomalies and injuries. and you'd still have plenty of spunk. the weight classes would need to be increased. but other than that, it's been solved, forever ago.

If they fight at 145, then it gives Kayla the opportunity to be a two division champ and if she loses at 145 she can still defend at 135.

It's win-win-wmma

This is truly horrible. Will it take for someone to lose their life for them to ban this stupid shit? Smdh!
Didn’t Macy Barber have a seizure while cutting.

You'd think this kind of extreme cut would classify Kayla as a "weight-bully," but apparently not.

She's in a different position to many, I'm sure she'd rather fight at 145 or even 155 but the women's featherweight is very shallow, 155 non existent. I mean the only thing that was in her way to coming to the UFC was the weight.

I solved it but they will never do it.
10 lbs in each weight class range.
6 weight checks, 3 random and 3 scheduled. 6 weeks out, 3 weeks out and fight night.
Miss the range lose 10% of your purse. Fighters will choose the weight class they can stay within.

Adjust weights as follows:
Fly 136-145
BW 146-155
FW 156-165
LW 166-175
WW 176-185
Franklin W 186-195
MW 195-205
SMW 206-215
LHW 216-230
HW 231+
or add SHW 266+

Pretty simple, fighters in shape stay in the range of their weight class. Miss weight costs money so you can't afford to fuck around. No need to hit a mark on the scale for 1 second and no dying in sauna's and no cancelled fights for weight misses. Plus fighters can fight more often. No need for 3+ months to recover from a weight cut even when you win in a minute and take zero damage.
Pretty good idea.
But I don't know about those random weight checks.

Your weight can easily fluctuate 5 pounds throughout the day on the heavier groups, how do you account for that? Are they going to test you in the morning after a dump, or after a hard run? Or after a birthday party at the BBQ?

That part could be really unfair.

You serious? They have trouble now making weight classes competitive and interesting.

Seems simpler just to make the top women's weight class 135+, same with HW

If its the highest weight class anyway then why cap it
No point in limiting HW I agree. But they are not going to attract OFL or DFL first or second or third round quality NFL picks anyways, not with their pay structure.

Extreme weight cutting is the dumbest and most dangerous thing in this sport.

These athletes are being tested multiple times a year for PEDs, just add a scale to the random tests: if someone weighs X% more than their weight class they have to move up, simple.

For example … you fight at 170 so in random weighing you cannot be over 190, if you are then your next fight is at 185, that’s it.

Otherwise someone is going to die from cutting (many already have but not in the UFC yet).
