Charles Oliveira has a plan in mind after after his upcoming bout against Mateusz Gamrot.

Oliveira headlines UFC Rio against Gamrot on Saturday at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A sizeable underdog going into UFC Rio, Oliveira is definitely not looking past Gamrot. However, “Do Bronx” wants a title fight next, whether it be for the lightweight title or the BMF title. Oliveira believes fans would love to see him fight the BMF champion, Max Holloway. The Brazilian also revealed that a BMF title fight will likely be his last fight.

Oliveira: Everyone Would Love to See Holloway Rematch

"First is winning this fight,” Oliveira told Shakeil Mahjouri. “And fighting for the title, whether it’s BMF or the title of the division. This is a great fight that will propel me towards the title… Everyone would love to see [the Max] fight, and I want this to be my last fight."

Oliveira won the lightweight title in 2021 and defended it once before losing the belt on the scale. After going 2-1 in his next three following a loss to Islam Makhachev, Oliveira received a shot at the vacant title against Ilia Topuria, as the UFC was upset with No.1 contender Arman Tsarukyan. Oliveira was brutally knocked out by Topuria at UFC 317 this past June. Meanwhile, Gamrot is 4-1 in his last five, only dropping a split decision against Dan Hooker.

If that's the case I allow it and BIG respect Charles for his career 🫡

Retirement Fight Belt makes more sense at this point and Max being the guy for it 😸

What should be the last fight for Max is the question then 🤔 and should the BMF belt getting retired with him too?

When does the BMF title actually change hands? Shouldn't it already be in Topuria's possession?

I was just thinking about it being the retirement belt too <joy> after Max vs Oliveira we can get, Max vs Justin 2, then Conor comes back for one last fight.

Olives wanting to suddenly retire makes me sad a little bit
It's a winnable, "fair" money fight, though. Holloway vs Poirier reported sold much better than Topuria vs Oliveira.

And Holloway has a lot of mileage in the octagon, so it's not like Oliveira is fighting some young lion to make a buck. It's a winnable fight and it will probably earn him a lot of money. If he's thinking about retiring, I think it's a pretty sensible move for him.

Also, for some reason, these fighters do seem to care about the BMF belt more than we do here on sherdog.

No because it wasn't on the line in that fight.

The purpose of the BMF belt is to juice a non-title fight so it can headline or co-main a PPV. It's redundant if there's an actual belt on the line.

Is this Max's new position in life? Max "The retirerer" Holloway

I think if it's for the stupid 'BMF' belt the UFC might still ask him to defend it once. I think they'd like a champion to defend instead of winning the belt and immediately retiring, save for a few exceptions, i.e. Hendo and Glover come to mind.
