Canelos team forgot to pay ahead

As much as I despise Saunders I think he had shown the ability before but what bivol had was the weight, confidence and the ability. He wasn’t intimidated in the slightest with the occasion. I’m still shocked they didn’t rob him

What Bivol has over Saunders is solid fundamentals, specially defensively.

defensive absolutely but again as a Saunders hater I think people really overlooked his overall boxing skills

Good boxing skills, but quite frankly, built around athleticism he doesn’t possess. Has the hands down, movement type of style, but I think he gets beat up by quicker American boxers. One thing I appreciate about Bivol is his solid fundamentals, ie. hands up, jab, 1-2, pivot, etc. He’s like the Tim Duncan of boxing.

Ye Saunders has no speed or power just good boxing skills and in reality he was not even a legit 168 fighter let alone champion. No wonder so many got tricked into thinking Canelo was a god if you can't judge his opponents properly.

Bivol is a pleasure to watch because of his fundamentals in that Standup game called Western boxing. love that!

bivol landed at 21%, while throwing a lot more punches. canelo landed at 17%. bivol outlanded him in absolute numbers, and in percentages, in every category. total punches, jabs, power punches. more volume, more accuracy, better defense.

so it was bivol that made canelo miss a lot, not the other way around.

and lol at this 57 times and he'll win the rematch temper tantrum. did you pout your lips and stomp your feet when you typed that out?

canelo took a dangerous fight against a dangerous opponent and came up short. there's no shame in it, he should be applauded for his effort and his massive balls. but he still got worked and trying to spin it any other way is hilarious.
He did make Bivol miss alot. The poster asked where was this Matrix like head movement and there were times where Canelo dodged multiple combinations and flurries in a row. Doesnt matter what Canelo missed because that's not what we were talking out.

absolutely agree with regard to Bivol. My godson had his second amateur fight last night as you better believe he will be rewatching that tonight. The chessmasters always win in the end

We should expect more fighters to test themselves like Canelo does, not laugh at them for it when they come up short.
And he could have made Bivol come down to 168, even Biv himself said plenty of times he could make 168 for Canelo, big respect to Canelo for fighting Bivol at his own weight class when he could have made Bivol come down instead

yeah he made bivol miss so much dmitry only landed 36% of his power punches on him.

Weird, I thought the fights were always fixed for Canelo. I guess it took a really big boxing star like Bivol to sway it the other way.

Canelo won the first four rounds on all three of the judges' cards. That is clown shit.

He's clearly bigger, more athletic and more durable. Pretty much better in all regards.
Not to mention hits a hell of a lot harder

Bivol has also a much tighter defense and hits a lot harder. I just scored the fight myself as I could only watch it now. Then the official scorecard. We all had a laugh. The first 4 rounds for Canelo <Lmaoo>

In the end it doesnt matter but 115-113 was way way too close for that disparity in damage and connected punches.

Translation: You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me.

Canelo’s team fucked him by letting him take this fight. But at least he took his domination like a man.

Just a horrible opinion. Canelo should be lauded for that, impressive move even through he lost cleanly.

Well we found Canelo's limit. Fair play to Canelo for being great and testing himself to his limit. An all time great that's for sure. I for one am shocked he managed to go up this high and fight competitively against an elite naturally much bigger man. But no rematch. Canelo got very lucky with the score cards. That wasn't as close as 115-113.

I'm not sure how a rematch goes, but you'd think Bivol would come forward more (only natural to think Canelo can't hurt him---he didn't through 12) and that may actually change the whole fight. But I tend to agree that Canelo should avoid it.
I had it 115-113, but gave Canelo the nod in a couple rounds I thought very close. I did not give Canelo the first four rounds, I think I gave him one or two of those. Would have to go back and check the RBR thread. I don't have any problem with 116-112 or even 117-111 Bivol and don't think you could have it any closer than 115-113 looking at that fight overall. But I did get 115-113 Bivol.

Canelo connected on Bivol even less than he did on Floyd, I’m not sure where all this “close fight” shit is coming from because Bivol looked like he could go 20 more rounds and Canelo looked done. It’s a mismatch and Canelo proved a point being brave. It was awesome.

Please steer clear of the rematch and go fight GGG and Benavidez, let Biv fight Biev.

Good stuff all around.
