Cain Velasquez is Mexican/isn't Mexican Thread ***Threads Merged***

I'm baffled that people are arguing over whether Cain is Mexican or American. In this country, since we have a large population of citizens who either came from other countries or whose parents immigrated here from other countries, we have traditionally identified them by using their or their parents original country of origin followed by a hyphen and then the word "American." People who came from Ireland or whose parents came from Ireland were called "Irish-Americans", people with Italian heritage were called "Italian-Americans" and people with African heritage are called "African-Americans." Cain is a Mexican-American, and there is no legitimate argument to claim he is otherwise.

This topic is beaten to death.. Who cares if he calls himself an Eskimo. Those on here would chit their pants if he was standing behind them as they typed all the bad things about him.

makes me think of people who say they're jewish even tho they are born/raised in the u.s. and haven't read/observed a single page of the bible and are 95% european

How does that show he lacks pride in the U.S.?

So anyone with dual citizenship for example is shitting on the other country they are from if they enjoy getting support from the other?

I seriously can't even begin to follow what some people's problems are. And he seemed to kind of smile and step it up when he heard the chicks going off in Spanish. A natural reaction for most guys when getting cheered by women.

This incident in particular does not show he lacks pride in the US. It is the other countless examples of Cain's behavior that does. As far as I know, he has never stated that he was proud to be American. He has, on the other hand, stated how proud he is to be Mexican. And he's done so countless times.

On a recent Embedded episode, he explicitly stated that he is "Mexican" in response to Werdum's allegation that Cain is an American who thinks he's a Mexican. He once again did not acknowledge his American upbringing.

He brings a Mexican flag to the ring. He dedicates his victories to the Mexican people. I could go on and on.

Cain IS Mexican by definition, that's a fact.

His nationality is American, but nobody is actually disputing that.. except for shertards.

Why does this matter if he's Mexican or not?

And he got "Mexico" and "Si Se Puede" chants when he fought in Vegas and in Texas. Cain is a big deal to Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. Why is this some debate to some people?

Sherdoggers said Fedor was HUGE and bigger than Klitschko in Russia

and then the Russian Sherdoggers said nobody knows who Fedor is in Russia

Why would he have to? It's pretty clear he's from America.

He doesn't have to do anything. All I'm saying is that it would be pretty refreshing if he would at least acknowledge his American upbringing. He just seems to have disdain for being American.

LOL @ Cain riling up the crowd when he starts hearing the "Mexico" chants. Seriously, though, does this guy have ANY pride in the USA?

why would you care for his pride at all

The Cain is Mexican/Cain is not Mexican debate is so played out and dumb.

In one of the Embedded episodes, Cain distinctly claims to be Mexican. He did not at all mention being an American.

Dana White recently referred to himself as Irish and to Lorenzo as Italian. No one said they were offended. When white Americans do it is ok, but when Mexican-Americans do it, it is offensive?

Or, just maybe, it's because he's incorrect.

Maybe since he was born, raised, educated and employed here his whole life they feel like he should identify with the country that he has lived in his entire life instead of paying homage to a country he's barely even visited.

Maybe it's that.

This guy keeps hitting the nail on the head. Couldn't agree more.

That's his heritage and most people in the US identify with their heritage. Especially first generation. So yeah Cain is an American of Mexican descent. But he's an American at the end of the day.

No one is disputing his heritage.

So fucking what? The guy you're responding to is right, I went to BWW for Brock vs Cain and it was packed with Mexicans who went nuts when Cain won. Why do so many morons take such personal offense at him embracing his heritage?

In Canada it's okay to show no pride in being Canadian.. So this 'Cain hates Murrica' thing is odd to me!

You're trying to dispute his nationality, which Cain has never denied.

Try again.
