International BREXIT: Leave/Remain Referendum on June 23 Will Change Europe, No Matter the Outcome.

So what did Oliver get wrong or misrepresent about the arguments in favour of a Brexit or those for remaining?
All I see are accusations of "shill", knee jerk nationalism and emotional reactions which confirm his arguments.

If anything, he went way too soft on the leave side. E.g he presented the UKIP campaign "Breaking point" as merely missing some nuance, when in fact it's nothing more than dishonest propaganda (the EU has nothing to do with refugees, immigration policies or the movement of non-EU citizens) made to reel in the racist mouthbreathers.

Yeah, it's not as if reactionary nationalism is an uncommon sentiment at the moment. Plenty for the populists to tap into. It's just that it never really seems to be anything more than sentiment and symbolism.
Hence the political campaigns with about as much substance as facebook chain messages.

People who hate Jon Oliver crack me up. Butthurt conservatives mad that a brit's show knows more about current politics than they do imo. I've never seen anyone from the right (Thames did earlier in this thread) properly correct topics Oliver discusses. To say he (or more correctly, his team) is ill informed is just silly. Most of the shit Oliver touches on shouldn't even be a partisan issue, its just common fucking sense.

On topic though, I never saw this weeks episode yet, will later tonight. I'm largely ignorant of implications of the UK leaving the EU.
so you either like jon oliver or you're a butt hurt conservative?

WTF? lol

Is this a troll post?

It's hilarious how these sanctimonious pro EU types call people racist for wanting immigration control whilst blindly supporting the poltical elite of the EU who have no moral objection to slaughtering innocent people in the Middle East to further to globalist agenda.

The European Commission has proposed reforms to EU asylum rules that would see stiff financial penalties imposed on countries refusing to take their share of asylum seekers.

The bloc's executive body is planning a sanction of €250,000 (£200,000; $290,000) per person.

No.
I have some time to kill. Tell me why I'm wrong.

You are wrong about every subject I've ever seen you post about on here. You are an imbecile. And I don't say that for dramatic effect or even to be offensive, I simply mean that you are an actual imbecile, clearly mentally deficiant compared to the norm.

Beckham has been paid to make a statement on the EU vote. I saw a while ago he was being groomed and moulded into being an establishment celeb puppet. It doesnt matter if its the EU, scottish independence , gay marriage ,etc..... he makes some statement that the elite want.

Has the UN puppet Bono weighed in yet?

It can be good for ones career to toe the globalists line.

so you either like jon oliver or you're a butt hurt conservative?
nope, I said people who hate John Oliver. The kind of people who just come in here and all him a POS or a dweeb or shill or whatever you want to call him. You can say he isn't funny, you can say you don't care about his topics, you can neglect him and consider him irrelevant for all I care. I'm talking specifically about the people who come in here just to shit on him because they are butthurt he tore something they care about apart and so they result to calling him names and saying how stupid and baseless he is.

The quotas are not really EU policies. It was the EU council (head of states from each member state) that made an emergency qualified majority vote, in order to help out Italy and Greece.

I guess I should have said that the EU does not impose any refugee policies, except for the ones inherit to the ECHR (and the common procedure agreements in CEAS), and they do not have authority to do that either, since it's not part of the treaty. But that is redundant anyway, since all EU states have signed the UN human rights charter, (and Geneva convention) that states the exact same thing as the ECHR.
All EU policies regarding asylum or refugees, are simply the member states using the EU as a medium for emergency policies. The EU is a trade union, that is its primary purpose. But it also provides a platform where the european nations can solve other issues if need be.

What the commission is doing here, is simply wagging their fingers at the countries who are not lifting their part of a signed agreement.

Cool.
Well, I don't know why I was expecting you to be able to articulate a coherent position. I have yet to see any of your ilk do that.

But you asked me if I was trolling. So it should be an easy task for you, to display just how much on an imbecile I am, by showing me how my statements are not correct.

6:35PM - Audience members arrive for debate

7:15PM - 'Many voters are still undecided'

The crowd is nearly now all in place and the 10 additional panelists are chatting to presenter Mishal Husain before the debate begins.

Dr Sarah Wollaston, the Conservative MP for Totnes and defector from the Leave side, says: "People are really trying to make up their minds. Many are still undecided and this is a great opportunity."

7:19PM - Will food prices go up?

Justin King, former CEO of Sainsbury’s, and Tim Martin, founder and chairman of Wetherspoons, both disagree on whether food prices would go up or down post-Brexit.

Mr Martin received huge cheers from a very excitable audience at Wembley... perhaps more so for his beer.

At a glance | What Brexit would mean for… food prices
  • The jury is split as to what would happen to the cost of food in the event of a Brexit.
  • Some suggest the free market of the EU means competition keeps prices down. If the UK were to stand alone, prices could be pushed up.
  • David Cameron, a strong advocate of the Remain campaign, suggested a Brexit would cause the pound to plummet by 10pc. A report from the Treasury suggested that this would put pressure on the cost of imports and increase the cost of food by 3pc.
  • Mr Cameron said the average family of four would spend an extra £220 each year on food, drink and clothes.
  • Other commentators suggest that EU membership has actually made food more expensive.
  • The average duty rate applied on agricultural imports is 12.2pc, according to the National Farmers Union. However, this varies. Some cheeses and wines have a 30pc to 40pc duty applied and certain meats are levied at 70pc to 90pc. A Brexit could mean lower tariffs and cheaper prices.
