Bow Down To The NFL GOAT

I concede that Brady is a freak of nature. I believe Montana was just as clutch as Brady but with less physical tools. Overall though, I can't deny Brady has this in his pocket.

th
Montana could easily dunk even though he was shorter and had shorter arms than Brady. He was much more mobile and could scramble. Brady's physical tools might be his height and big hands. He has an iron chin and an iron will. But Brady wins with his mental strength more than his physical abilities.

THIS! Yesterday he NEVER gave up even while down 25 points. He told himself "Someway, somehow I'm going to come back and win this game." If you're an NFL coach THAT'S the kind of QB you want to lead your offense. That mental toughness in addition to his physical capabilities are monstrous. He's a God and a Savage all rolled into one.

Now we all know what is the biggest difference between those dirty birds and a dirty tub.

Dirty tub has a RING.

Brady is damn good, but he has also always had a lot of talent surrounding him. That's like calling Emit Smith the goat running back when Barry Sanders was obviously better. Imo Aaron Rodgers is a better QB than Brady. Congrats on the win though that was a hell of a comeback.
like a bunch of midget white wrs that Brady makes look like all stars? Belichick is the best coach ever and Brady the GOAT regardless of position. Talent doesn't make tbe goat being the greatest when it matters most does.

Look I'm not saying Brady isn't a beast, he is, and I get why people think he is GOAT, he just banked his 5th ring. I'm just saying, as a long time fan, there are a couple other guys on his level of skill. Joe Montana being one of those guys. Montana was a clutch mother fucker who went 4-0 in the Super Bowl. Joe Montana was MVP in 3 of those 4 Super Bowls.

Joe Montana had an astounding 31 comebacks in his career...in the 4th Quarter.

This is how ESPN describes Joe Montana.

Montana was neither exceptionally fast nor tall nor did he have a bazooka for an arm. The man whom his high school quarterbacks coach said "was born to be a quarterback" won by wits and grace, style and reaction. It was if he saw the game in slow motion. Whether it was with Notre Dame or the 49ers, whether the game was played in an ice storm in Dallas or in the humidity of Miami, Montana was The Man in the fourth quarter.

"There have been, and will be, much better arms and legs and much better bodies on quarterbacks in the NFL," said former 49er teammate Randy Cross, "but if you have to win a game or score a touchdown or win a championship, the only guy to get is Joe Montana."

I'm sorry but you guys are out of control with this GOAT regardless of position shit. Jerry Rice dominated in a way that is still mind boggling to look at. ESPN ranked him #1 all time and #2, #3, etc. are not even close, its Rice by a mile.

Montana is second in my book. But I was a little kid when he played.

He was a cool cat like Brady. I'd take either guy.

Both were clutch, but I gotta give the edge to Brady with 5 rings.

People might be sort of stereotyping his athletic ability a bit, i.e. the "hard working" vs "explosive" tropes we see in sports. Numerous teammates of his have talked about how he was very athletic and could easily dunk despite probably being generously listed at 6'2". If you just look at the numbers, Montana has almost twice as many rushing yards as Brady, even though Brady has played longer. Montana was more athletic than Brady. I'm not arguing about Montana being clutch or whatever. I simply disagree when you say that Brady has more physical tools than Montana. I think it was the other way around actually.

In this clip, they talk about how Joe Montana bet his teammate Dwight Clark that he could slam dunk a basketball backwards two-handed and how he easily did it and won.

And then here in these time stamped embeds, Bill Romanowski, who played both with and against Montana and also played against Brady, talks about how Montana had "legs" unlike Brady and how they rolled him out a lot because of his mobility, and then he also talks about how Joe could easily dunk when he played basketball and how he doubts that Brady could dunk.

Talking about Montana's legs:

Talking about how Montana could "dunk with ease":

I don't think we are that far apart. I'm simply saying Brady is not alone among QB's. Montana is in fact on his level. Montana went 4-0 in SB's, never lost, and he threw 0 interceptions in 4 Super Bowls. 0

I'm alright with fans calling Brady GOAT, I don't necessarily think its true but I'm alright with it. He has them 5 rings. Head to Head though, Montana is more than a match for Brady.

Oh, Montana's on anybody's level all time, he's an unquestionable all-time great. He was the GOAT before Brady. If people still think he's the GOAT, I'm not going to get bent out of shape about that. I rate Brady higher because he's basically a combination of Montana's playoff numbers plus Marino's regular season numbers. Brady recently passed Marino in yards and passing touchdowns. Montana's regular season numbers actually lag behind both of those guys. What got Montana his GOAT status was his playoff numbers, especially in Super Bowls.

The crazy thing about Brady is that not only does he already have more SB wins than any other QB, but he also is right up there in terms of regular season numbers, and has a very real chance of not only continuing to separate himself in terms of how many chips he's got, but he could also surpass Favre and Manning in terms of regular season numbers. If/when he does that, I don't know how anyone could continue to deny him GOAT status.

Well, Marino was another rare talent. He got those numbers during a 14 game season, Brady has 16 game seasons. So yea Brady is almost 40 years old and has played 16 seasons? He could break all the numbers but we have to take into account how many games it takes him to do it too. As I said before though, I don't deny Brady's legendary status, he absolutely is. The guy is a freaking winning machine.

Brady is damn good, but he has also always had a lot of talent surrounding him.

Not this year. He lost Gronk, and all his other receivers are short white guys. Edelman, Hogan, Amendola. His RB's are journeyman level that aren't even good enough to start on other teams. There aren't a lot of teams that have fewer offensive superstars than the Pats in this year's playoffs.

Aaron Rodgers has pro bowl receivers. Manning always had pro bowl receivers and tight ends.

Good enough for 5th all time.

Manning 45 in 17 seasons
Brady 39 in 16 seasons
Marino 36 in 16 seasons
Elway 35 in 15 seasons
Montana 31 in 15 seasons

As for playoff 4th qtr comebacks, Brady has 7 and Montana has 5 and is in danger of being overtaken by Russell Wilson who has 4

Any yet almost nobody disputes that with the exception of maybe Tom Brady, Montana is better than all those guys you listed.

You're right, 208 is much more than 456
