Bow Down To The NFL GOAT

Brady is damn good, but he has also always had a lot of talent surrounding him. That's like calling Emit Smith the goat running back when Barry Sanders was obviously better. Imo Aaron Rodgers is a better QB than Brady. Congrats on the win though that was a hell of a comeback.

Aaron Rodgers is a self serving douche bag that only cares about himself, he'd have quit in that game like he did against the Falcons 2 weeks ago. Rodgers can't and never will hang with Brady mentally. There is a reason why Aaron is barely above .500 in the playoffs and Brady has 20+ playoff wins.

Rodgers is more mobile and is more accurate on the move/downfield. Brady is better at everything else. Clutch, pre snap, better in the pocket, better teammate, better leader and just a better player. Rodgers is a giant fucking crybaby who blames everyone else when they lose.

While it is a marvel and impressive he had five championships. He and the city of Boston can thank the Hawks for the fourth SuperBowl win. That was probably the biggest choke job in SB history along with the Giants/Bills. IMO the Hawks should have never gotten so cute near the goalline and just handed the ball off to Lynch.

Two defining TB moments of the game imo were:

1. If you trace the ebb and flow of the game, the Falcons had been in control up until this run. The Patriots were shook, missing blocking assignments, dropping passes, down 25 with 25 to play. I think looking back, this was the moment that the Patriots (including the defence) remembered who their QB was and rallied to the tie and eventually the win. The Falcons began losing their grip on the game and ultimately never recovered.

2. With questions about the age of his arm going back as far as 2013, Brady leads another game winning drive which two back to back pinpoint deep-outs (from opposite hash marks no less). There's QBs playing in the NFL who can't make that throw with enough regularity for it to be included in the playbook.

As for SB XLIX, that circumstances surrounding that play call have been lost to the hyperbole of the media and the emotion of Cris Collinsworth.

Seattle need a TD to win, and are on 2nd and goal at the 1. They're going to use all 4 downs to try to score but only have 1 timeout and there is only 27 seconds remaining. If they run it on second down and the patriots stop them, they need to use the timeout and third down has to be a pass or else they lose their 4th down to the clock. Better to throw it on 2nd down which if incomplete leaves you two snaps which can be either run or pass.

And considering A, that up until that point that NFL season, over 100 passes had been thrown from the 1 yard line for zero interceptions, and B, that they'd tried a run on a play earlier in the game where they needed 1 yard and Lynch had been stuffed, you can hardly fault Carroll's call so much as its execution. If there's anyone you should blame, it should be Kearse. He was lazy getting off the line, because he knew it wasn't coming to him, and got stuffed by Browner instead of screening Butler. If he explodes off the ball and gets even a slight rub on Butler, Lockette gets his ticket punched and Montana goes down as the greatest of all time.

Are you kidding me?!?! He has never had any talent around him. If fact, it's widely known he's never had any talent (except for Moss) and it's more amazing what he does.

Montana had Rice for the entire he was at San Fran. Manning had Wayne and Harrison.

mmmmm nah bruh, Montana won half of his super bowls without Rice, one of those going 15-1 in the regular season

Jerry Rice is probably the greatest of all time at any position but yea, Barry Sanders was from another planet.

Interesting to hear what 3 time Super Bowl winner Troy Aikman has to say about this era of football compared to his era and who the greatest QB of all time is.

Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman joined The Dan Patrick Show to discuss a handful of football-related topics, one of which was the difference between the current offensive era and the one in which Aikman played. Both he and Patrick agree that the dramatic uptick in passing numbers in recent years has made it nearly impossible to compare current quarterbacks to past greats, at least statistically. Aikman, whose career numbers would look pedestrian next to those of Matthew Stafford or Jay Cutler, relies on more of an eyeball test to evaluate the greatness of a signal-caller.
When asked, in his estimation, who is the greatest quarterback of all time, the three-time Super Bowl winner says it has always been an easy answer for him. (Hear Aikman's pick at the 4:45 mark in the video above.)
"Joe Montana," said Aikman. "And I don't care if we're comparing him against anyone from today's game or not, or what his numbers may or may not look like. I saw him do it on the biggest stage, in the biggest moments and bring his team back and do the things that I think are required of the position."

You do know Aikman has had it in for Brady for years right. Camera gate he was on of the first to chime in. He is bitter always bitter.

The Cowboys owner Jerry boy even chimed in. He even crapped on Tom when he was injured. He is far from being taken seriously.

I think it's more telling that the defensive side of the game has gotten weaker. Patriots have had far better defensive teams then now. But I believe this is across the league.

With caps and arbitration it's a lot harder for teams to build great defensive lines.

I don't just give props to Brady alone (even though he IS a beast). I congratulate the entire team. They routinely exemplify what it means to be a real team with a real system instead of individuals with egos concerned about personal stats. And I definitely take my hat off to Belichick. He understands the Art of War and is a football genius.

Going to watch Skip and Stephen A Smith for once, their/their panelists mental gymnastics to try and deny Brady the GOAT title will be fantastic

Brady actually hasn't always had the best receivers. Montana had Jerry Rice for all his Super Bowls. P. Manning had Wayne and Harrison. E. Manning has had better receivers throughout his career. They've had good overall teams, but Brady has had to do more with less on offense a lot of times. The exception is when they got him a fading Randy Moss who revitalized his career in NE and Brady set records throwing the ball to him. Brady could have put up some ungodly numbers if they had stacked offensive talent like that around him throughout his career. But that's not The Patriots Way, for better or worse.

And for this credit really does have to go to Belichick. He is the only NFL coach that I know of who can consistently win championship games with less than stellar talent. While other teams may have stellar players, Belichick has a stellar team and it's the team that wins it or loses it. He's a helluva coach and a helluva leader.

I'm not sure what you think Aikman is bitter about, he's a 3 time SB winner. Any of Aikman's Super Bowl teams would have turned last nights Patriots out. Turned them the fuck out.

Just woke up and I am hella hung over. I can't wait to read over the whole NFL thread that's now locked. LOL at the Denver Salt Party.

Tom Brady is a GOD.

I heard they shoulda went undefeated that season but got screwed by a ref who made a shit call that cost them that one game, and the ref later admitted that he fucked up. So if that's all accurate, then the '84 Niners should be undefeated.

I went out to buy some groceries and everyone thought the game was over. I live 20 mins from Foxborough. I was like this is the Pats they will pull it out again this time.

I was watching at a bar in Santa Barbara. Crowd was very hostile to the Pats.

When they stopped Atlanta in the fourth quarter and began that final drive I had this feeling "well that's the game. Brady's going to take it down the field, they'll make the conversion and win it in over time." It's weird because I really wasn't even tense. We've seen this happen so many times with the Pats that there was just a sense inevitably about it.

By the time the game ended the whole bar had gone pro-Pats
