Bouncers acting like hard-asses

http://ihini.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/half-head-man-wins-38million-payout-for.html

Yeah some bouncers go over the top...... the picture says it all really.....

I haven't had any issues at all with bouncers that I can remember when I used to go out, I remember one running up the street to stop two guys who were laying into another guy on the ground, I suppose he didn't have to leave his post to do that, and handled it in a pretty good way without having to throw punches, so guess he did a good job there.....

I can definitely see how some bouncers could take their position too far though

Ofc it is. They use all their time at the gym, getting tattoos, roiding up. They simply won't get employment anywhere else, and it gives them some sense of significance.
A bouncer actually beat a lithuanian guy to death here in Denmark some months ago. We really got some crazy ass cavemen as bouncers in this country. If you look up any danish club on review sites, you always see foreigners complaining about being thrown around by the bouncers.
I just did a search for a popular club nown as 'Kul

The only time I have had issues with bouncers was when I was in New Zealand and Australia. They have different standards than we have in North America. There, if you seem drunk, you are thrown out. If you are completely wasted, you have to act sober. If you don't seem sober, expect to be thrown out on your ass.

never had a problem with bouncers in denmark, he probably beat him for a reason, lithuanians can be pricks, source: i'm lithuanian

Neither have I, but I'm still aware of the issues with them.
It doesn't matter if he was a prick or not. If you are not able to deal with "pricks" you probably shouldn't choose a profession where you exclusively have to deal with young drunk people.
Also, he died from a brain hemorrhage after the bouncer bashed his head in, you really think you deserve that from being a prick? If he even was a prick, that's just your allegation based on him being lithuanian.

Btw, my best friend is lithuanian, I've known him since I was a kid and I have basically grown up amongst lithuanians (his family, and their friends) because of it. They are definitely not pricks. Their mentality is different and they don't take shit, but they are hard working and very friendly people once you get to know them.
I know there is a lot of east europeans resorting to crime when they travel around in western europe, but to naturally assume that a guy is a prick because of a certain nationality is just ignorant.

No shit Sherlock. Not trying to say there have been over 5 million instances of bouncers killing customers. But it does illustrate that yes indeed, it is a phenomenon that occurs, and in countries all over the world. I watched a bouncer brutalize someone a third of his own body weight... for dropping a drink. The victim ended up with severe brain damage and hasn't been able to speak since. He was 19 years old. There have been worse cases in the hometown that I grew up in, and a myriad of even worse cases in the city I live in now, including - yes - deaths... er, murders.

While I've never been overtly 'bashed' by a bouncer, I have been violently ejected by one... for talking to a girl he must have liked. Lucky for me I got payback though. Doesn't pay to victimize someone who is good friends with owner of the establishment. Fucktard got fired the very next day, along with the wanker who recommended him for the position.
Next time I urge you to find an actual statistic or at least post several different stories reinforcing such claims, instead of referencing the number of results.

It honestly seems like to me that you were trying to illustrate this as a common occurrence by talking about the number of results. When you yourself describe it as a phenomenon.

Like I said, I haven't had enough interaction to know, and I know people's opinions are shaped by their experiences. However, it appears you are making a pretty wild generalization.

I'm sure there exists plenty of bouncer who are assholes. They are (normally) big dudes in potentially dangerous situations. I'm sure they find it easier to eject somebody through strength rather than reasoning. I'm sure there are other bouncers who are just straight up assholes.

I wonder though, have you ever been a bouncer?

Again, I'm not saying your opinion is invalid. However, I believe that before one expresses their opinion as ardently as you are, it would be necessary to know the struggles of the other side.

This, of course, is not applicable in all situations. I just feel like in this one, an individual might benefit from seeing situations like these from two different perspectives.

Yet, they sell alcohol? It would seem reasonable that a business should have to deal with the consequences of their product, does it not?

I am an old married dude and don't do strip clubs or court except for jury duty. I have however seen these hulking guys come in the emergency room whining about job related injuries and personally feel it comes with the territory when one of those guys get hurt. So why whine about it and not just take your lumps like a man? I have never had a run in with a bouncer except to tell them to sit down and wait their turn to see a doctor.

They all think they're Jay-Z or Chuck Liddell sitting in the corner like some untouchable celebrity that everyone is looking up to and wants a piece of and wishing they were him... when in fact we think they're the biggest douchbags in the bar, which they are.

I got jumped by 3 bouncers and one kicked me in my god damn rib, I threw the overhand right correctly but it didn't even faze him

I don't go to clubs very often, but I've never had a problem with a bouncer.
Usually when I greet them, they are very nice back.

Guess some of them think they're the shit, but most are probably just really tired of drunk people.

One time I was a bar/nightclub there was a large group that had bought table service and a few bottles. I think it was someone's birthday, they had cake and shit. The birthday boy drank too much and fell asleep so the bouncers came and told them that they were kicking him out. The friends pleaded with them and said they would be leaving with him soon, bouncers weren't having it and just carried the drunk guy towards the exit. Then they just heaved him onto the sidewalk. He landed like face first and there was blood all over the sidewalk. I was like WTF?!?! This guy just spent like $2-3K at your establishment and you just throw them out like trash?

That is a crap move if it happened, but I believe dude's friends could have headed this off.

The guy who bounces downstairs from me is a big teddy bear of a guy. Super nice all the time. Then one night a fight broke out and he was throwing dudes left and right. It was pretty awesome.

I've been to countless bars and clubs and have never had an issue with a bouncer that I didn't start to begin with. Bunch of whiny bitches in here.

I go out almost every weekend and I really don't have a bad story about bouncers.

They're just tired of stupid drunks. I'd be grumpy as well being sober watching people act like idiots.

I don't believe that you were "calmly" talking to the bouncer.

Rest assured I was. I was sober that night, the bouncer I was talking to and the one who sucker punched me were not even within ear shot of each other, the one I was talking to was a ok guy. I am familiar with the security industry. This place and another place I know had a good thing going but it was ruined by thug security.

Having said that I have known great bouncers/security. There was a bouncer who became head of security at a 'famous' venue here that became a legend. The security were very very violent when it came to punk and metal gigs. It was notorious. They changed security this guy was the boss and it changed. Bands ranging from sepultura to GBH sent condolences when he died.
