Bouncers acting like hard-asses

Half of security is acting like you are someone you should mess with.

There is a reason they aren't happy smilie people alot of the time, even if they are when outside of work.

Much better to be assumed to be really tough than actually have to prove you are.

You go girl!

I lol'ed

really? what part dont you believe? would be kind of pathetic to make up either story on a anoymous forum, particularly when the first story involves me getting destroyed and the second one involves me being shitfaced. Let me know and I will clarify any doubts you may have. Im guessing its the second one, does sound too good to be true but it is, in fact I can even give you the date dispite the fact that it was years ago as it was a particularly eventfull day. I have a lot more bouncer storys where they came from, most of them not so nice though

I lol'ed even harder.

Seen a bouncer drop an unconcious guy (from drinking too much, politely by himself) on the sidwalk on his face, intentionally, it popped his nose like a grape. What a fucking asshole.

Went to a bar/club in the middle of the afternoon to buy tickets to a show they were having later, nobody was there except myself and this guy (and apprently someone else in the back who had the tickets) I ask where to get the tickets he just sneered at me, laughed it off and turned his back to me.

If I still went out to public drinking places I'd probably end up killing a bouncer one of these days. Fuck em.

Jesus man, maintain.

Bouncers and recovery agents usually have an attitude until you see them in emergency room crying like a little bitch with a skinned knee because someone beat their ass for that machismo crap they fling at everyone they come across.

lol, you're becoming one of my favorite posters, old man.

I've worked security at a couple events and although the chicks dig you, the guys look at you with contempt (most of them). Your excuse is fucking weak, dude. Do you go to public bathrooms and shit on the floor simply because there's a janitor there who's supposed to clean up the bathrooms? No, you don't, because you would be complicating his job for no reason and I assume that you have manners. Do you treat waiters and bar boys like slaves or in a disrespectful manner simply because they're taking your order at a restaurant and serving you your meals? No, you don't, because that would be rude. The same thing applies to going to a bar, getting trashed, and starting problems. The only difference is that there's someone at the bar that is paid to maintain the order and bounce you if you start shit.

Right, completely. And if a bouncer is being an annoying, power trippy douche to someone who isn't drunk or starting problems, who does the issue lie with?

I'm sober, always have been and always am out with friends. I've had issues with dickhead bouncers from Seattle to Vegas and can say so with a completely flawless memory of the events and a laid back attitude. Most of the time they just stand around being chunky and some of them are pricks that I'd love to glove up against. I don't give a fuck if they've been dealing with drunken assholes for 10 years, if they're rude as shit to someone for half the perceived insults ITT then they're a douche whether they have a security shirt on or not.

I'm sure you and Mick are swell guys (actually I can vouch for Mick being cool) but bouncers deserve their bad rap imo.

Have you ever thought that perhaps you are the problem? Do you give off a "vibe"?

If his IP is in Scotland, I know who this guy is.

Australia I think you'll find mate. Never even been to Scotland unfortunately. And you won't have to dig terribly far to find out exactly who I am. No need for a lynching party. Just saying what the majority of posters in this thread have said. And you have to admit, we have a point. Exhibit A:

The only time I have had issues with bouncers was when I was in New Zealand and Australia.

Interesting - you could be right about that. Maybe that has something to do with how and why my opinion of bouncers has formed like it has

I don't believe you. You told him to fuck off while walking away. I know your type.

Because you grew up with me and know me better than I know myself, right?

Whatever. I don't care what you think. It seems like a lot of guys who have posted their experiences in this thread are getting bashed and accused of things. Some of you simply cannot accept that some bouncers are just assholes when they are on the job.

For everyone's information, I did get thrown out of a bar once, not because I was disruptive, but because I had been up for a very long time and I was getting sleepy. I shut my eyes for a few minutes and a bouncer tapped me to wake me up. I nodded off again and he KINDLY asked me to leave. He even let me go to my buddy and tell him what had happened. Then I was escorted out.

No violence! No yelling even!

Amazing!

I worked on a door for a while during college. You would not believe how irritating drunks get in a short space of time.

That said, a good bouncer or doorman should be very gentlemanly to people behaving themselves and having a good time, and should give people the chance to leave quietly before becoming rough.

Is it in a bouncer's job description to act like they are bad ass mofos? Are their intimidation skills tested before they get the job?

It really depends on the bar. I have known all types of bouncers too. I know a couple of guys who are built like Rick Steiner but are actually the biggest pussies in the world but their size intimidates.

MY current job I handle VIP protection for celebrities. One night one of these celebrities wanted to go out and the bar he chose was not a quite bar. We do not carry any fire arms and our main objective is that we are not even noticed unless things get out of hand. Well this one particular celebrity was being a douche and one of the bouncer put his hands on him. I won

I am an old fart with a sense of humor and glad to here I made someone's day.:icon_lol:

a bouncer stole a joint from me at the last show i went to.

I got kicked out of a club a couple months back, I was waiting to be served at a bar , and the bar guy ignored me for like 20 minutes, while serving any female and dooshy looking guys before me, even if they had just joined the que. He then left the bar unnatended for 5 mins when I saw some guy just walk up and pour his own drink from one of the taps. So I thought fuck it and did the same, a bouncer walked past and saw my bottle overflowing(I filled it up to much) wrapped his tree trunk of a arm around my neck and drags me out, I don't weigh much and he probably weighed twice as much as me but I could barely breathe and had pretty bad bruises the next day. Sure I was in the wrong but the use of force was excessive and I would of just left if he'd asked

^^^^ so you were thrown out for stealing?

You got what you deserved regardless of how much of a douche the barman was.

Another time a few months back, me and my friends got kicked out of a bar after a fight.
Some women goes up to her husband and starts shouting abuse at him and starts slapping his chest, he pushes her back rather aggressively and my friend who was pished, goes up and shouts at him, he slaps my friend and it all kicks off.

We separate the two and hold our friend back, no one holds this guy back though and he comes up to me and plants a straight right on my chin, due to hand injuries I had I couldn't punch back, and the guy continues to beat the shit out of my friend on the floor.

Now I'm just trying to pull the guy off and one of the bar staff is grabbing my Throat from behind me, until finally after well over a minute he bouncers arrive and break it up, and proceed to throw us out and the guy that started it gets to stay ffs! Apparently he was quite a dangerous guy in the small town we were in, te bouncers said he was the type to come and burn your house down... So I guess they pussied out

I didn't deserve that after paying a lot to get into a club that won't even serve me for the best part of 45 minutes and taking 50 cents worth of shitty beer, and then getting choked by some dumb fucking gorrilla.

Sure I was in the wrong but it was excessive given the situation

The only bad experience I had with a bouncer was when the asshole threw away my Raiders lanyard.

So you got caught stealing and were grabbed and thrown out.

How should the bouncer have handled it?

Should he have called the cops and had you charged for theft?

Thanked you for stealing and sent you on your way?

You need to understand that the bouncer was not watching you waiting to get served, he caught you stealing and acted on what he saw. Not exactly an unwarranted response in the scenario you described.

id imagine it is part of the job description and for good reason.

He could of escorted me out lol, non violent situations do not always require violent response. By your logic if he'd broken my arm or something that still wouldn't be excessive? I have no problem with being thrown out I'm just saying the way he did it was too rough, maybe you had to be there to see... He didn't catch me stealing either he just saw the bottle overflowing with head haha,i could of dropped it for all he knew
