that's a good point. needing to defend it slows things down and gives chances to people in weight classes who don't necessarily deserve it. it does kind of cheapen it a little if there's too many of these belts going around but it should be limited.

I remember Poirier pitching the idea of a 4 man BMF tournament between him, Max, Dan Hooker and Gaethje. Unfortunately Dana replied that no one would sanction that here.

It would be really cool and interesting if the UFC decided to dissolve the BMF belt in the middle of a BMF fight, then after the fight they didn't even mention it, and neither does anyone else, and it's gone, and no one ever talks about it again while any reference to it's existence is redirected to a rebrand of a generic product no one ever clicks on, like Betsy and Miranda's Flower Shoppe, or Bam Margera's Footwear.

If it gets guys more eyes and a few more PPV bucks I have no issue, it's a hype symbol, nothing to get worked up about in either direction IMO.

BMF concept is to have main events without title fights.
Money.

But it is not a real belt, a guy shouldn't defend it.

1. Let's assume Jiri Prochazka gets that belt vs Dricus.... he is a mofo. But in the same time, you could have made Tony Ferguson vs Diego Sanchez for BMF.

Jiri doesn't have to defend anything.

2. And - only crazy entertainers should fight for it. Jones fighting at the White House should definitely NOT be for a BMF title, because Jones is a duck.

3. The pool is very little for eligible fighters for the BMF.....you need to be entertaining, crazy, popular, accomplished. So you only have Max, Justin, Dustin, Jiri, DDP, Lewis, Topuria, Charles, Pitbull, Poatan, Vettori...... that's it.

The best BMF matches, for the moment , are:

Dricus vs Jiri
Charles vs Max 2
