Blue Belt beating Black Belt

What's stupid about it? Do you not understand some of the vocabulary? Or are you stupid enough to believe that colorful piece of cloth you bought from your Rorion Grace affiliate means something in respect to your skills?

This is not Karate.. Not sure what training you have, but there is no secret death touch that only black belts learn in BJJ. Of course there are levels, like, i would hope a white belt would learn to upa before he learned an omoplata.

The higher belts just have a higher sense of what is going on than the lower belt... 99% of the time.

Totally, i even use less submissions and overall different techniques at brown belt than i did at blue.

My positionnal control, pressure and transitions are alot alot better though.

I don't know the blue belt looked like a good blue belt. To me it looked like a pretty big size advantage and the black belt was "staying safe" on the bottom.

I have never seen a blue belt tap a black belt but I have seen long matches where the black belt taps the blue belt or the timer goes off and the match ends.

In general no in my opinion a blue belt is not going to be able to beat a black belt by tapping them or even on points but with an age and or size difference yeah it can happen they are not super heros.

When I read thread about leglocks or wristlocks I have that feeling. Some guys feel butthurt when they are tapped by a whitebelt doing a kneebar or a wristlock. They'll usually invoke a silly excuse like "it's forbidden in the BJJ rules" or "he should try to pass the guard instead of hunting the sub".

Eh, for all we know the blue belt has wrestled since he was 5 and has years of NoGi and only just started in the Gi a year ago

are you stupid enought to believe we are stupid enough to believe is the belt reference in your post what we found stupid?

let me ask a question? how long have you been grappling? I got the answer, ZERO days, how do I know? well whoe ever thinks bjj is some crap where the instructor hiddes super ninjas technniques from lower belts so they dont beat higher belts... cleary has never ever step a foot in a bjj gym.....

This Roger Gracie dude is so fucked up, I bet his white belt students will beat him right of the bat if he wouldve shown his secret technique to them....right? lmfao...

Your argument only works under the assumption that belt rankings are a true reflection of skill. This is not true, as evidenced time and time again.

Of course a guy who has been doing BJJ for 10+ years is going to beat someone with 2 years or less experience with relative ease. It's just a dyed piece of cloth people, get over it. It's a system designed for children and impatient adults to stay motivated from getting their ass kicked on a routine basis.

On the latest edition of Open Mat Radio, Black belt Kevin Howell say's that Galvao has blues that would take his lunch $$ or something to that effect. Very good interview!

hu? and where did I said otherways?

I was responding to this

The belt system is flawed. It impedes growth by restricting techniques to certain belt colors. That is the only reason higher ranked belts beat lower ranked belts so flawlessly. If everyone was taught the same things, there wouldn't be a huge gap in skill between belt colors thus making the belt system obsolete.

This is a mess. I'm not even sure you read my post carefully.

I never remember saying instructors hide super ninja techniques from lower belts so they don't beat higher belts.

I said that the belt system impedes growth because techniques are restricted to certain belts.

A white belt is forced to stick to the beginner techniques, even if he's ready for advanced techniques, simply because he's a white belt.

The blue and purple belts are beating on the white belts who are unaware of the techniques they are using.

Most instructors following the belt system will give a dumb speech on how you're not ready for those techniques instead of teaching you and making you a better grappler.

I understand if you disagree but it's foolish to write off my opinion as stupid just because you're passionate about your hobby. It was insensitive of me to call something that you worked hard for, just a piece of cloth. If I offended you, I apologize.

Huh? It's not like blues and purple are beating up white belts because the whites aren't allowed to learn heel hooks yet. This post makes no sense.

But when a BJJ Black belch gets beat by another grappling art, something is BS about the BB.

no, you're just wrong, flat out wrong... there is very few restrictions on what techniques WBs use in general at my gym (they can use whatever techniques are legal for the belt level of their opponent under ibjjf rules) they still get their asses beat, you know why? because they are less experienced and are not as good at the sport, it has absolutely nothiing to do with what techniques they use... shit, the best brown belt at my gym uses exactly the same game now he did at white & blue, he just does it better now

That blue belt is built like a tank. Younger and heavier too. 5 years grappling experience in no gi puts you at advanced so I guess its not a complete shock he can do good against a smaller black belt coming off an injury break.

No, but a lot of times there is a beginner class (whites and Blues) and then an advanced class (Blues and up). Usually the advanced class is going to be more "advanced" chain of the original series taught I the beginner class. Ie more advanced moves off the first one being it a pass, sweep or sub.

If you don't think a ALOT of moves are kept from white belts in BJJ I would wonder what gym you train at.

I'm speaking from experience at my first and last BJJ gym. My former instructor shut down all of my questions with the reason me being a white belt not ready for advanced techniques.

i'll say the same thing to a WB if he asks me about something he isn't ready for eg asking me about rolling to the back from side control before he can actually hold side control properly

What you should have taken from that was weren't ready to learn those moves yet.:icon_chee
