Bloodborne v2, The Hunt Begins

I did the first couple of bosses in ng+ but then started a new character. I wanted to try a different starting weapon and build.

Every BB streamer I watch seem to be telling people not to play ng+ because no new gear or stuff...so besides the difficulty spike, no reward for playing it...they are hoping it gets From Software to add new content(rewards) for ng+...I have yet to see any ng+ steams or videos...

Hopefully they add some new weapons and gear in the dlc. That would be sweet.

My only complaint about this game is the covenants don't seem finished...you get great stuff for joining one and they aren't as simple to join as they are in Souls...but there doesn't seem to be any reason to sticking with any covenant from what I've seen...you get your reward once you join but nothing after unless I'm missing something...

Third playthrough and I haven't stumbled across any covenants yet. Guess I'll have to look it up at some point.

I've done SL1 twice but never ENB. Are you allowed to use the giant blacksmith hammer? Can you buy twinkling titanite and upgrade it yourself?

Still haven't really figured out how to do all the dungeons. I did the first three levels with a fully upgraded weapon but didn't bother going on because it seemed so easy. Obviously I was wrong.

Enb challenge is much harder than sl1 which IMO is pretty easy. Enb is pick any starting class and play through like that. No leveling and no healing on bosses and you can only use your starting equipment. You can level your starting equipment. Between all the mechanics that now one shot you and the fact that pretty much every boss will kill you in 2 hits it's crazy hard.

I had the most difficulty with four kings and manus. It made me an incredible action rpg player though. Four Kings you couldn't waste any time or you would fail. A lot of fights it was best to go with rtsr because all the bosses attacks would one shot you but 4 kings didn't allow that or you would lose the other ring. So painful. Manus was just a brutally long fight that you had to perfect dodge everything. Kalameet turned out to be pretty easy. I actually had a 2:30 kill on it as I figured out a couple tricks. It also forces you to develop unlocked combat skills IMO. You need to be able to dodge to places to miss the second attack since you can't block bosses with no stamina.

Sounds interesting.

It took me a week to beat manus on sl1 using rtsr. No joke. All day Saturday and 2-3 hours every night for a week. I must have died 300 times. I thought I understood that fight because I had done it solo many times on casual playthroughs but I was wrong. I never had a perfect fight which you need for rtsr. Once I beat him I was immediately able to do it again with a sl4 character. Now I consider manus one of the easiest bosses in the game because I'm so familiar with his moveset. But I had to learn the hard way.

You're right about four kings being seriously annoying. It's so rng dependent at base levels. If they start off with magic missiles and a few grab attempts, you're fucked. You'll be fighting two or three kings at once, guaranteed.

Only thing I noticed was that enemies had about 3 times as much HP. I dont know if you need to play NG+ to get certain game medals as you did in dark souls .

Probably picking this up tomorrow. Never finished Demons or Dark souls, but the combat, look, and feel of the games keep calling me back.

Anything in particular I should know aside from the fact that I'm going to be abused constantly?

The beginning of the game is the most frustrating. Once you power through Central Yharnam it gets a lot more manageable.

I'd say start with the hunters axe would be the only thing. It's hands down the best starter. Also the dodge at bigger enemies is usually the safest dodge in this one. Very different.

Amazing what 40 hours of play time does to your skill level lol.

I started a new character last night with a focus on strength this time. I was breezing through Central Yarnham. Even boxed up the first werewolf you encounter in the clinic. Chipping away at him with 3 damage per hit.

Also going to try my hand at pistols this time. Liking the play style so far.

Its true that the axe is a very strong weapon to start with. Takes abit of time to get used to the move-set ,but once you get practice it wrecks everything. It stun locks alot of bosses and tough enemies.

took 1 hour and 7 insight to finally have a successful co-op chalice dungeon

My buddy and I cleared the first 4 layers, shit was cool.

picked this up on Friday and played for a while yesterday. good to know that everyone else thinks the beginning is tough. i was really starting to question my sanity.

Once I got the hang of the mechanics I could easily get past the beginning area where the big bon fire was at, but kept dying on the bridge with the werewolves on the way to the first boss(optional boss). My blood echos kept going to waste since I couldn't upgrade anything since I hadn't unlocked the doll. I ended up getting to the bridge and sprinting past everything to get to the boss. Just getting to the boss gives you 1 insight and unlocks the ability to level up your character. Once I did that I could grind out some levels and made it tons easier.

Anyone have a good walkthrough to recommend? For my second character I'd like to be as thorough as possible. Reading the threads made me feel like I missed quite a bit.

EDIT: I guess this isn't a direct response to your post. More that it prompted me to post for those in the same area perhaps on a second playthrough and are familiar with the areas I'm posting about.

You don't need to encounter the boss to awaken the doll. You just need 1 insight. There's a mad man's knowledge at the bottom of the sewer with rats you can grab.

You also don't need to go past the 2 wolves to open the shortcut to the lamp. Right after the large bonfire in the large area where you get the normal torch, there's a door where you can talk to a person. Immediately to the left of it is a bunch of barrels. Roll through them and you'll drop off a ledge that will put you next to all the dog kennels, then you just backtrack to the shortcut.

Oh wow I never realized it was the insight you gain from finding the first boss that allows you to use the doll. Awesome thanks!
